TypeSafe AI is an AI lab building machine-native intelligence infrastructure for automation, designed to make decisions within software by combining the intelligence of LLMs with the efficiency and reliability of code into a new shape of AI: System One Models. Based in San Francisco, TypeSafe AI recently launched its first public model, Jev.

While others chase benchmarks and academic puzzles, we’ve been quietly rethinking the LLM stack from first principles — building a new kind of general frontier model designed for real-world reliability, decision-making, and autonomy in production.

We’re a small, fast-moving team from OpenAI, Google Brain, and Meta/FAIR, backed by top-tier investors. Since mid-2024, we’ve been engineering the foundation for what comes after the current “state-of-the-art” — a model that actually gets things done.

About The Role

You'll build and run the community around TypeSafe, helping developers discover Jev, get started, and stay involved as they build. You'll own both the member experience and the systems behind it, from welcoming new builders and running hackathons to creating workflows that keep a growing community organized and responsive.

There's no playbook to run. You'll work closely with our founders, engineers, and Developer Relations to turn early interest into an active community where people build, share what they learn, and help shape what comes next.

What you'll own

• Community experience: run our community channels, welcome new members, spark useful conversations, and establish clear guidelines that keep the community helpful and engaged

• Programs and relationships: build programs for our most engaged developers, support community-led initiatives, and develop relationships with organizers and partners
• Events and logistics: own hackathons, meetups, and community events from planning and promotion through registration, vendors, swag, and follow-up
• Systems and workflows: build the tools, documentation, and automations behind onboarding, member support, event operations, and community communications
• Feedback and follow-through: surface recurring questions, product feedback, and promising use cases to our technical team, and close the loop with members
• Measurement and improvement: track participation, retention, response times, and what members are building; use what you learn to improve programs and focus our effort
  
  

We are looking for people who

• Have built or scaled community programs, developer communities, or operations at a fast-moving startup

• Can design a program and handle the details yourself, from recruiting participants to answering questions and making sure an event runs smoothly
• Bring strong operational judgment and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple moving pieces and follow through
• Write clearly and communicate with warmth, responsiveness, and good judgment, especially when handling feedback or difficult conversations
• Are comfortable with community and operations tools automation, and know when to simplify rather than add process
• Are curious about AI and technically fluent enough to understand what developers are building, recognize where they're stuck, and connect them with the right help
• Care about developers and people and understands their desires
• Reason through process strategically before making a decision
• Show complete ownership, spot gaps without waiting for instructions, and care deeply about our mission
