Position Overview

We are seeking multiple exceptional Founding AI Engineers to turn advances in multimodal AI and agentic systems into reliable industrial products.

You will work directly with our founders, Chief Scientist, and domain experts to build systems that understand engineering drawings and 3D models, reason with manufacturing knowledge, and assist users with design, process planning, and quotation.

These are hands-on, product-focused roles spanning experimentation, data development, model adaptation, evaluation, and production deployment.

What You’ll Build

Engineering & Design Intelligence

• Develop VLM- and OCR-powered systems to extract dimensions, tolerances, materials, annotations, and manufacturing features from 2D engineering drawings.
• Build 3D CAD and STEP parsing, geometric reasoning, and 2D–3D feature alignment capabilities.
• Enable design similarity search, drawing generation, multi-view reasoning, and CAD/CAM/CAE integrations.
• Connect products with CAD tools and enterprise systems through APIs and structured data exchange.

Manufacturing Process Intelligence

• Translate drawing and model features into structured manufacturing requirements.
• Build industrial knowledge systems covering materials, equipment, machining methods, tooling, inspection, and standards.
• Develop process-planning copilots, manufacturing-method recommendations, and design-for-manufacturing (DFM) risk detection with explainable outputs and engineer review.

Key Responsibilities

• Own capabilities end to end—from problem definition and prototypes to deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
• Build scalable data pipelines, annotation tools, and human-in-the-loop workflows for industrial datasets.
• Fine-tune and evaluate multimodal models where needed, combining them with retrieval, geometry processing, rules, and conventional software.
• Develop benchmarks for extraction accuracy, reasoning quality, recommendation usefulness, cost-estimation error, and user time savings.
• Design reliable AI workflows with source traceability, uncertainty handling, permissions, and human review.
• Turn engineer corrections and real-world outcomes into continuous improvements to datasets, models, and rules.
• Collaborate closely with customers and domain experts to prioritize practical, high-impact solutions.

Qualifications

Required

• B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering field.
• Hands-on experience in at least one relevant area: multimodal AI, VLMs, computer vision/OCR, LLM agents and retrieval, CAD/geometry processing, or industrial engineering software.
• Ability to create evaluation datasets, investigate failure cases, and improve system performance systematically.
• A builder’s mindset: comfort with ambiguity, strong ownership, and enthusiasm for working with users in a fast-moving startup.

• Strong Python skills and experience building, testing, and deploying AI-powered software.

Preferred

• Experience with engineering drawings, STEP/B-Rep representations, CAD APIs, or CAD/CAM/CAE workflows.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes, DFM, costing, quality systems, or industrial standards.
• Experience with model fine-tuning, semi-automated labeling, inference optimization, or multimodal dataset development.
• Experience building long-running agents, human-in-the-loop applications, or enterprise integrations.
• Evidence of impactful work through shipped products, open-source contributions, research, or technical projects.
