Artificial Intelligence Engineer – Backend (Java & Generative AI)

Title: Artificial Intelligence Engineer - Backend

BeaconFire is based in Central NJ, specializing in Software Development, Web

Development, and Business Intelligence. We are looking for motivated Software Engineers

with a strong programming and object-oriented foundation to build scalable, production-

ready backend applications and AI-powered solutions.

This role focuses on backend software development and Generative AI integration, with

Java as the primary backend development environment.

Candidates with experience in Java,

C++, C#, Kotlin, or other object-oriented programming languages are encouraged to

apply.

Job Responsibilities

Backend Software Development

 Develop scalable and production-ready backend applications and services.

 Build RESTful APIs and backend services using modern software engineering

practices.

 Work with relational and NoSQL databases, including SQL-based data management.

 Apply object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and software

engineering principles to solve technical problems.

 Write clean, efficient, maintainable, and reusable code.

 Conduct unit testing, integration testing, debugging, and performance optimization.

 Participate in code reviews and follow software development best practices.

 Collaborate within Agile/Scrum teams throughout the software development lifecycle,

including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and optimization.

 Create and maintain technical documentation for applications, APIs, and deployment

procedures.

 Support production deployment, monitoring/observability, CI/CD, security, and

performance optimization.

 Transition and apply existing programming experience to Java-based enterprise

backend development.

Generative AI Integration

 Develop AI-powered features and applications using modern Generative AI

technologies.

 Implement RAG pipelines and LLM-powered applications.

 Integrate AI models and services into backend applications and APIs.

 Work with frameworks such as Spring AI and LangChain4j.

 Work with vector databases and AI-related data retrieval technologies.

 Apply concepts such as embeddings, chunking, retrieval optimization, and reranking.

 Stay current with emerging Generative AI, LLM, and Agentic AI technologies.

Requirements

 Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering,

Information Technology, or a related field.

 Strong programming fundamentals and problem-solving skills.

 Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).

 Experience with one or more OOP programming languages, including Java, C++,

C#, Kotlin, or similar languages.

 Good understanding of common data structures and programming concepts.

 Basic knowledge of relational databases and SQL.

 Understanding of the software development lifecycle.

 Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.

 Ability and willingness to transition into Java-based backend development.

 Interest in learning and applying Generative AI and LLM technologies.

Compensation

$62,000 – $80,000/year

Candidates must be open to relocation within the United States (e.g., CA, TX, NY).
