## About the Role

Nango is seeking Senior and Staff Backend Engineers to join its core engineering team and help build the company's platform and developer infrastructure.

This is a high-impact engineering role within a product-led organization where engineers have significant influence over the product roadmap, specifications, and execution. You will own core backend systems end-to-end, from ideation and architecture through implementation and collaboration with developer customers.

The position is remote and open to candidates located in North America, LATAM, or Europe.

### Key Responsibilities

* Design, build, and scale backend systems, APIs, and services for Nango's open-source platform.

* Develop developer-focused interfaces, including APIs, SDKs, UIs, and runtime infrastructure.

* Work directly with customers to understand and resolve integration challenges.

* Improve the performance, scalability, reliability, and efficiency of backend services.

* Own key technical decisions and contribute to product roadmap and company strategy.

* Maintain and contribute to the company's open-source repository.

* Collaborate with engineering and product teams to deliver reliable developer infrastructure.

* Take ownership of systems throughout their lifecycle, from initial design through production.

* Support teammates during incidents and help remove technical blockers.

### Required Qualifications

* 5+ years of backend engineering experience for Senior-level candidates or 10+ years for Staff-level candidates.

* Proven experience scaling high-traffic or high-performance systems.

* Strong experience with developer infrastructure, APIs, databases, and performance-critical systems.

* Professional experience with Node.js and modern backend technologies.

* Strong understanding of backend architecture and distributed systems.

* Passion for developer tools, engineering best practices, and developer experience.

* Strong communication and collaboration skills.

* Ability to work independently in a remote-first environment.

* Product-focused mindset with strong developer empathy.

* Pragmatic, proactive, and low-ego approach to engineering and problem-solving.

* Ability to operate effectively in a startup environment with ambiguity and changing priorities.

* Based in North America, LATAM, or Europe.

### Preferred Qualifications

* Experience building developer-facing infrastructure or platforms.

* Experience maintaining or contributing to open-source software.

* Experience working directly with developer customers on technical integrations.

* Strong understanding of API design and developer experience.

* Experience operating and troubleshooting production systems at scale.

### Work Arrangement

This is a fully remote position open to candidates in North America, Latin America, or Europe.

The role is designed for engineers who are comfortable working autonomously in a distributed environment and taking ownership of projects from concept through production.
