UX Designer in UNITED KINGDOM

Remote 1 year ago
Death by PowerPoint remains the primary method of education for deskless workers across the globe, and we have a unique opportunity to redesign education from the ground up for over a billion deskless workers.

Our team is on a mission to make high-quality education available to a billion deskless workers with a vastly improved user experience that's massively more accessible, effective and enjoyable - And that's where you come in!!

As an early member of our team, you'll supercharge our understanding of customers and users in defining Visibly's user experience alongside the Founder.

You will also partner with an incredible group of world-class leaders, engineers and operators to get this experience into users' hands.

In late 2023, we raised one of the strongest seed rounds in Europe, and now, our highest priority is building a team that pushes each of us to do our very best work and care intensely about our team and customers

What you'll be up to

  • Partner with the Founder to architect a fantastic user experience from insights and product vision.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional squads to bring products to life—we ship products within days to a few weeks.
  • Understand our customers deeply and research alternatives so we know the bar and raise it.
  • Work with subject matter and education experts to improve their tools and learner outcomes
  • Lead all UX aspects, including research, user journeys, prototypes, wireframes and post-implementation analysis to improve user experiences.
  • Work alongside other team members to instil pride in crafting a user-friendly (and fun) experience across our mobile apps and website to email newsletters and offline events.

Requirements

Sounds like you?

Experience: You have plenty of experience understanding and designing for users needs, plus shipping software iteratively.

You’ve thrived in an early-stage startup, and/or you’ve learnt from exceptional Product Designers at slightly later-stage companies.

Progression: You're committed to personal and team development with a learning mindset. You never feel done learning your craft.

Delight & Empathy: You have empathy for customers and their journey. You deeply understand how customers think. You can accurately predict how changes will make them feel. You enjoy creating delight.

Communication: You are comfortable and confident sharing your thoughts verbally or written. You can engage constructively in debate and discussion with your colleagues and peers.

Collaboration: You can partner with a diverse team to achieve business results. You have experience facilitating discussions with Engineers and Founders to drive discovery and decisions.

Appreciation of Quality: The details and nuances of your work are important to you. You are enthusiastic about your favourite products and can articulate why they're incredible. You are excited to build a premium brand.

Thrive in ambiguity: You'll often design from scratch with limited data to drive decisions. You take a first-principles approach and ask yourself, what's possible?

Get stuff done: You have experience shipping MVPs, negotiating trade-offs, and prioritising strategically.

Application process

We want to get to know you, hear about what you're interested in, and learn about what you hope to do in the future.

We aim to minimise the impact on your time as much as possible.

  • Learn about each other (20 mins - remote)

You won't need to prepare anything in advance. This conversation is to get to know you and explore whether we might be a good fit. You'll learn more about Visibly and have a chance to ask any questions about our company, team culture, and product.

  • Portfolio presentation (20 mins - remote)

This is an opportunity to walk the audience through your portfolio, explain the objective, how you contributed, what decisions you took and why.

  • UX critique (async)

We’ll give you access to our product and ask you to briefly summarise what works, what doesn’t, and how it could be improved.

NOTE: We understand many people may have busy schedules, so we recommend timeboxing this to an hour.

  • Working session (90 mins - in person)

We will run a 90 minute session (plus lunch or dinner) alongside our lead investor, Creandum, for truly outstanding candidates. As you progress through the process, you will receive more information.

NOTE: We understand many people have busy schedules, so we will share timeboxing recommendations and flex our schedules.

We are an equal opportunity employer and celebrate diversity, recognising that diversity of thought and background builds more substantial teams. We approach diversity and inclusion seriously and thoughtfully. We do not discriminate based on race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
