Unity Multiplayer Developer - Senior in GREATER MONTREAL METROPOLITAN AREA

Squido Studio is looking for a Unity Multiplayer Developer - Senior to join our team of 17 people dedicated to developing virtual and mixed reality (VR and MR) video games on Unity.


Context


The Squido Team is currently working full time on our new game DigiGods, a multiplayer sandbox using physics like never before in VR. Using Fusion 1 we have implemented a working solution and we would like a senior developer to explore other solutions or improving our current solution.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimise multiplayer games on Unity.
  • Explore, integrate and customise network solutions such as Photon Fusion and Photon Quantum. Find the solution most adapted to the game needs and implement it.
  • Integrate the solution on Manage dedicated servers hosted on platforms like Google Cloud or Edgegap.
  • Explore solution to reduce our server costs including switching from servers to peer-to-peer
  • Develop and optimise physical game mechanics for multiplayer.
  • Ensure game stability and performance on different platforms.
  • Plan and carefully document the code architecture to facilitate its maintenance and team development.
  • Lead code reviews and ensure code quality for network features.
  • Mentor junior developers, share best practices, and participate in code and feature analysis.
  • Continuously present your learnings, technical issues, ideas, improvements, and optimizations to the rest of the team via Discord.


Experience

  • At least 7 years of experience in video game development on Unity.
  • Strong knowledge in physics applied to video games, with engines such as Quantum or others.
  • Experience in launching multiplayer games with live services on PC or consoles.
  • Advanced experience with C# programming.
  • Experience in netcode for multiplayer games with dedicated servers.
  • University degree in Physics is a plus.
  • Mastery of CI/CD processes and source control tools (Git, Github Actions).
  • Excellent problem-solving ability.
  • Team spirit and excellent communication skills.
  • Communicate in French both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience in VR is a plus.


Working Conditions

  • Salary between $80k and $120k depending on experience.
  • 100% remote work.
  • Full time.
