Our client is a fast-growing technology business building a B2B data and workflow platform used by commercial teams to access, validate and work with business and professional information.

As the platform continues to scale, the company is investing heavily in product experimentation and growth optimisation.

We are looking for an experienced Backend Engineer specialising in Go to join a product team focused on testing ideas that can directly improve customer activation, conversion, retention and revenue.

This is a great opportunity for an engineer who enjoys moving quickly, working closely with product and commercial teams, and seeing the measurable business impact of what they build.

Rather than spending months delivering large, predetermined features, you will work in shorter development cycles: build an idea, release it, measure what happens, and decide whether to develop it further.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Design and implement backend functionality primarily in Go.
  • Develop and release product experiments within short development cycles.
  • Work on an established production platform rather than a greenfield environment.
  • Make focused changes across different areas of the backend, including commercially sensitive functionality such as pricing, credits and billing-related workflows.
  • Build APIs and services supporting new product capabilities.
  • Instrument new functionality so that its impact can be measured accurately.
  • Analyse technical and product results together with the wider team.
  • Remove or reverse experiments that do not produce the expected outcome.
  • Refactor and productionise successful prototypes, improving architecture, testing, reliability and maintainability.
  • Collaborate closely with frontend engineering, product and business stakeholders.
  • Work with an internationally distributed team across the US and Europe.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Strong commercial experience with Golang / Go.
  • Experience designing and maintaining REST and/or gRPC APIs.
  • Good understanding of event-driven architectures and distributed backend systems.
  • Strong experience with PostgreSQL.
  • Confidence working inside an existing and evolving production codebase.
  • Experience releasing changes safely into live environments.
  • Ability to balance speed with engineering quality.
  • Comfortable building an initial solution quickly and then deciding, based on results, whether to improve, redesign or remove it.
  • Strong product mindset and interest in understanding how engineering decisions affect customer behaviour and business performance.

You’ll Probably Enjoy This Role If…

You prefer ownership over lengthy approval processes.

You enjoy shipping, measuring and improving rather than spending months perfecting something before users see it.

You are comfortable entering unfamiliar areas of a codebase and understanding how systems interact. If you are interested, please share your CV. We will contact the shortlisted candidates.
