Job Description

I’m working with an early-stage robotics company building autonomous systems for complex logistics applications. They’re now hiring a Staff Robotics Software Engineer to help develop, deploy and improve the software that powers those systems in the real world.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, implementing and debugging software for autonomous robotic systems.
  • Developing across areas including motion control, perception and hardware interfaces.
  • Writing high-quality, maintainable software in C++ and Python.
  • Bringing up software on physical robotic hardware and troubleshooting issues across the hardware/software boundary.
  • Testing and validating software performance on real systems rather than relying solely on simulation.
  • Building robust software with fault detection, graceful degradation and fail-safe behaviour in mind.
  • Investigating root causes of failures and driving issues through to resolution.

Qualifications

  • Strong programming experience in C++ and Python.
  • Hands-on experience developing robotics software using ROS2.
  • Experience shipping software onto a deployed physical robotic system.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across complex software and hardware systems.
  • Experience developing software where reliability, safety and real-world performance matter.
  • The ability to operate effectively within a fast-moving, early-stage engineering environment.
  • A willingness to take ownership, work independently and contribute outside of a narrowly defined remit.

Sponsorship is available for the right candidate, but must be in the Bay Area/Willing to relocate! If you are interested in hearing more, please apply directly with your updated resume.
