Job Description
I’m working with an early-stage robotics company building autonomous systems for complex logistics applications. They’re now hiring a Staff Robotics Software Engineer to help develop, deploy and improve the software that powers those systems in the real world.
Responsibilities
- Designing, implementing and debugging software for autonomous robotic systems.
- Developing across areas including motion control, perception and hardware interfaces.
- Writing high-quality, maintainable software in C++ and Python.
- Bringing up software on physical robotic hardware and troubleshooting issues across the hardware/software boundary.
- Testing and validating software performance on real systems rather than relying solely on simulation.
- Building robust software with fault detection, graceful degradation and fail-safe behaviour in mind.
- Investigating root causes of failures and driving issues through to resolution.

Qualifications
- Strong programming experience in C++ and Python.
- Hands-on experience developing robotics software using ROS2.
- Experience shipping software onto a deployed physical robotic system.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across complex software and hardware systems.
- Experience developing software where reliability, safety and real-world performance matter.
- The ability to operate effectively within a fast-moving, early-stage engineering environment.
- A willingness to take ownership, work independently and contribute outside of a narrowly defined remit.
