Job Description

Technical Support & QA Engineer โ€” Own the Quality Behind Every Charging Session

Join a Global Leader in Sustainable Energy.

At EN Plus, we are more than just a manufacturer; we are the architectural engine behind the global shift to sustainable mobility. With a decade of stable operations and an unwavering commitment to innovation, we have established ourselves as a dominant force in the EVSE industry. We empower companies around the world with reliable, scalable, and compliant EV charging solutions through our leading technical expertise.

Empowering good energy, everywhere.

Our Impact at Scale:

  • 1.5 Million+ EV chargers delivered globally.
  • 200 Million+ successful charging sessions supported via our partner platforms.
  • 60+ Countries supplied with region-ready charging solutions.
  • 450+ Global Employees including a 180+ person dedicated R&D powerhouse.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a meticulous Technical Support & QA Engineer to join our lean, high-impact UK/EU regional office in Sevenoaks, Kent. This is a dual-purpose role for an engineer who is equally capable of proving why a charger failed in the field and proving that the next release will not break the ones already working.

A modern charger is no longer just hardware. It performs only if the firmware, the installer app and the back-office integration all behave correctly โ€” and keep behaving through every over-the-air update. You will own both sides of that equation: the deep diagnosis when something goes wrong in the field, and the verification that prevents it going wrong at all.

These two halves are deliberately combined. The engineer diagnosing real field failures is the best-placed person in the business to determine what our test coverage must include, and every fault you diagnose should become a test that prevents its return.

This is a foundational role. You will be the first person in this seat, building the test discipline, the bench and the regression library. You are expected to hold the line on release quality and to state clearly, with evidence, when something is not ready to ship.

Job Description

  • Role: Technical Support & QA Engineer
  • Reporting to: Head of Product & Project Delivery
  • Location: Sevenoaks, Kent
  • Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3โ€“4 days in-office / 1โ€“2 days home), reflecting the hands-on nature of bench-based fault replication and release testing

Key Responsibilities

1. Level 2/3 Technical Escalation & Root Cause Analysis

  • Escalation Ownership: Take on the technical cases that B2B customerโ€™s first or second line support, partner service desks and field engineering cannot resolve, across our full UK/EU product portfolio.
  • Fault Replication: Reproduce field-reported faults on the bench using device logs, OCPP and WebSocket traces, BLE captures, network simulation and platform-side analysis. This is the core technical skill of the role.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Construct defensible RCA โ€” 8D, fault tree, timeline reconstruction โ€” and drive it to closure with our R&D headquarters, maintaining an open-questions register until every question is answered.
  • Partner/Customer-Facing Technical Positions: Produce written technical findings to a standard suitable for sharing directly with a customerโ€™s own engineering team.

2. Release Verification & Test Ownership

  • Test Plan Ownership: Write and maintain test plans and regression suites covering charger firmware, the app (iOS and Android, BLE commissioning) and platform integrations.
  • Release Verification: Verify every release candidate before it reaches the UK/EU fleet and provide a documented go / no-go recommendation supported by executed evidence.
  • Protocol Conformance: Run OCPP conformance and interoperability testing against partner back-office platforms, covering reconnection, session recovery and error paths โ€” not only the happy path.
  • Traceability: Maintain traceability from requirement to test case to result, so release evidence withstands partner and regulatory scrutiny.

3. Fleet Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Regression Conversion: Turn every confirmed field defect into a permanent regression test โ€” the mechanism that stops issues recurring.
  • Quality Reporting: Track failure trends by product line, firmware version and partner, and report monthly to UK leadership and HQ.
  • Field Enablement: Build troubleshooting runbooks, a known-issue register and diagnostic guidance.
  • Test Infrastructure: Own and develop the UK test bench โ€” representative units across all product lines, EV emulation, metering, network fault injection and back-office test instances.

What Weโ€™re Looking For

  • Evidence-Led Mindset: You set a high bar for proof. You close issues with evidence, not assurances.
  • Educational Background: Bachelorโ€™s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science or a related field โ€” or equivalent demonstrable practical experience.
  • Proven Experience: Minimum 4 years in technical support engineering, test engineering or firmware/software QA on connected hardware. Background ideally in EV charging (EVSE), energy, industrial IoT or telecoms.
  • Fault Replication: A demonstrable track record of reproducing intermittent, field-reported faults in a lab environment.
  • Cross-Stack Diagnosis: Ability to diagnose faults spanning embedded firmware, a mobile app and a cloud platform โ€” and to determine which of the three is responsible.
  • Protocols: Understanding of OCPP 1.6J as a minimum. WebSocket, MQTT, REST and JSON understanding is a plus.
  • Log Analysis: Confident reading raw device and platform logs at volume and reconstructing an accurate event timeline from them.
  • Test Discipline: Proven ownership of test plans, test case design, regression suite maintenance and defect lifecycle management โ€” not exploratory testing alone.
  • Electrical Competence: Able to work safely on mains-connected AC equipment and to read a wiring diagram. Relevant qualification, or willingness to obtain one.
  • Fast Technical Learner: The EV charging landscape moves quickly. You must be able to master new protocols, standards and product architectures at pace.
  • Written Communication: Excellent written English. A significant part of this role is writing technical arguments that persuade an engineering team in another country to act.
  • Mobility: Willingness to travel across the UK and EU, and periodically to our R&D headquarters in China.

Bonus Points

  • UK/EU regulatory context: MID metering, CoP11, UK smart charge points regulations, G99.
  • Mobile app QA experience
  • Test automation frameworks and CI/CD familiarity.
  • Familiarity with AI tools such as Claude to accelerate technical workflows โ€” log analysis, test case generation, documentation and RCA drafting.
  • Experience working in or with ODM/OEM manufacturing businesses with cross-border R&D teams.

Why Join EN Plus UK?

  • Foundational Ownership: You are the first person in this seat. You will define how quality works in our fastest-growing region.
  • Technological Breadth: Five product families, from AC chargers behind major energy-supplier brands to DC fast charging up to 300 kW, plus our next-generation bidirectional V2G platform.
  • Regulatory Frontier: UK smart charge point regulations, EU AFIR, MID metering and RfG 2.0 for V2G. What you verify over the next two years determines what we can legally sell.
  • High-Visibility Impact: Work in a highly agile UK regional office backed by the industrial power of a 450+ person global organisation.
  • Flexible Hybrid Working: Time in our Sevenoaks office and lab, with flexibility around home working.
  • Competitive Package: Competitive salary and benefits commensurate with your expertise.
  • Visa Sponsorship: Available for qualified candidates.

How to Apply

Send your CV with a few sentences about the most difficult fault you have ever reproduced โ€” what made it hard, and how you eventually pinned it down. We are more interested in your diagnostic process than in the tools you used.
