Your Role
We are looking for results-oriented Senior Data Scientists to be based in our Istanbul office, who are ready to take on some of the most impactful problems of global trade. At Forto, the data science team works on advanced solutions using AI technologies for the most important processes and parts of Forto’s transport management platform. The work consists of owning AI as part of a product team; starting from identifying opportunities, to developing and prototyping a solution, all the way to deploying, maintaining, and improving a production-ready solution. We use a variety of technologies and tools including Python, SQL, Looker, Airflow, Docker, Argo, CircleCI, and a variety of GCP services to get the job done, and constantly look for ways to improve how our data scientists work.
We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to work together with business stakeholders (Logistics, Finance, Commercial, Customer Success, etc.), data and software engineers, and product managers, on different problems related to our logistics operations. The ideal candidate is expected to have passion and curiosity toward solving complex problems using AI technologies while bringing data and rigorous analytical thinking to shape the company’s product and business decisions.
You will;
- Deep dive into the business practices of freight forwarding to identify opportunities for improving Forto products and services with AI solutions to create a business impact, partnering with business/tech stakeholders.
- Design comprehensive, end-to-end solutions that address business problems with a holistic perspective, integrating various technologies beyond AI and incorporating them seamlessly with AI technologies.
- Develop state-of-the-art AI models that will have an impact on operational productivity, financial growth, and customer experience.
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and business managers to translate analytical insights into decisions and actions.
- Communicate results in a clear business-focused narrative and act on product decisions.
- Continuously experiment with new technologies/tools to expand the AI capability set.
What you will bring
- An advanced degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Economics, Computer Science, or a similar domain
- Solid working experience in a data science role involving data processing, analysis, machine learning, computer vision, and NLP models.
- Hands-on experience with production-level data science projects — from requirement collection, and prototyping to deploying, maintaining, and improving production-ready solutions
- Solid experience in Python programming and experience in experimenting with new libraries.
- Working knowledge of automation scripts, data pipelines, and visualization tools
- Experience in RPA, LLM models, and generative AI technologies is a big plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to collaborate with cross-functional partners
What you will work on;
- Creating AI bots to improve productivity by replacing repetitive manual work. This involves building solutions that involve solid usage of computer vision, LLM, and RPA technologies.
- Creating chatbots to improve efficiency and time-to-response in internal/external communication.
- Creating volume/price/ETA forecasting models to shape financial and business planning decisions.
- Creating accurate predictive models to assist business stakeholders in their daily business decisions such as customer retention, shipment planning, lead management, etc.
