About the Role

As a Cyber Security Intern, you will support the security team by assisting with threat detection, vulnerability assessments, security investigations, and compliance activities. You will gain exposure to modern security tools, security frameworks, and defensive strategies while contributing to projects that help strengthen organizational security.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor networks, systems, and applications for potential security threats and suspicious activities.
• Assist in vulnerability assessments, security scanning, and basic penetration testing exercises.
• Analyze security logs and investigate unusual events using security monitoring tools.
• Identify security risks and support the development of remediation recommendations.
• Assist in implementing security controls, policies, and cybersecurity best practices.
• Support incident response activities and contribute to security investigations under professional guidance.
• Participate in risk assessments, compliance initiatives, and internal security audits.
• Maintain documentation related to security procedures, vulnerabilities, incidents, and technical findings.
• Collaborate with IT, engineering, and cross-functional teams to improve overall security posture.
• Stay updated on emerging cyber threats, attack techniques, and evolving security technologies.

Required Qualifications

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Security, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong interest in cyber security, ethical hacking, digital security, and information protection.
• Basic understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, VPNs, and firewalls.
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Understanding of cyber security principles, common attack vectors, and defensive security practices.
• Strong analytical thinking, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a remote environment.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with SIEM platforms and security monitoring concepts.
• Knowledge of security tools such as Wireshark, Nmap, Burp Suite, OWASP ZAP, Metasploit, or similar technologies.
• Understanding of the OWASP Top 10 and web application security concepts.
• Basic scripting knowledge using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Familiarity with cloud security concepts across AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Understanding of security frameworks such as the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ISO/IEC 27001, CIS Controls, or other industry-recognized standards.
• Basic knowledge of identity and access management (IAM), encryption, authentication, and access control.
• Understanding of incident response, risk management, governance, and compliance principles.
• Strong attention to detail with an investigative and analytical mindset.
