This is a paid internship at competitive rates. Memorial Day and 4th of July holidays are paid days off.
CNO Financial Group is hiring a Cyber Security Intern to work alongside our experienced Cyber Security associates, assisting with professional Cyber Security day-to-day work. The Cyber Security Intern will spend time with various teams in Security, including Operations, Engineering, and Governance.
What you can expect:
- Exposure to enterprise cybersecurity operations and Security Operations Center functions.
- Hands-on experience with industry-leading security tools and technologies.
- Mentorship from experienced cybersecurity professionals.
- Practical experience supporting incident response and threat detection activities.
- Opportunities to develop technical, analytical, and professional skills.
- Experience working in a collaborative enterprise IT environment.
- Progress towards a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related discipline.
- Status as a rising junior or rising senior, approx. graduation dates of December 2027-June 2029.
- Availability to work 40 hrs/week for 10-12 weeks during the summer.
- Candidate location in Central or Eastern US time zone is preferred OR willingness to work Central or Eastern time zone business hours.
- Basic understanding of information technology concepts, including networking and operating systems.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and best practices.
- Ability to analyze information and identify patterns or anomalies.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.

- Previous internship, work experience, or academic projects related to cybersecurity or information technology.
- Familiarity with security concepts such as phishing, malware, endpoint security, authentication, and network security.
- Experience with scripting or programming languages such as Python or PowerShell.
- Participation in cybersecurity clubs, competitions, labs, or Capture-the-Flag (CTF) activities.
- Pursuit of entry-level cybersecurity certifications such as CompTIA Security+, ISC2 CC, or similar.
- Balancing education and a part-time job during the school year.
