The Opportunity
As a dedicated Cloud DevOps Engineer - Intermediate Level, you will have the opportunity to work with cutting edge technologies in our Public Cloud Enablement Journey at USAA within the Cloud Services Organization. You will work with IaC tools and technologies to enable and support a variety of IaaS services (Compute, Storage, Network) for Cloud Platforms such as AWS. Additionally, you will be working on our Public Cloud Control maturity, Availability Management, and Cloud FinOps maturity.
You will provide support to the Enterprise through delivering best in class technology solutions. You will also be engaged in all phases of the software systems and application development lifecycle which include gathering and analyzing requirements, designing, testing, documenting, and implementing software, responding to outages.
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be
in the office 4 days per week. This position will be based out of our
Plano, TX headquarters
. Relocation assistance is
not available for this position.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, code, and test technical solutions
- Write code to deliver features, and improvements, on a regular basis
- Investigates and resolve technical problems and production issues through troubleshooting techniques
- Continually improves operations by conducting systems analysis and recommending changes in policies and procedures.
- Prepares and installs solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.
- Follows the software development lifecycle.
- Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What You Have
- Bachelor’s Degree or 4 additional years of experience beyond the minimum requirement can be used in lieu of a degree OR Approved certification from CodeUp, Galvanize, VetFIT (Veterans for IT) or eFIT (Employees for IT).
- 2 years of software development experience specific to a discipline/technology.
- 1 year of experience delivering technology solutions in all phases of the software systems and application development lifecycle.
- Basic Understanding of one or more of the following: Java, Swift, Objective-C, Cobol, JavaScript, Kotlin, C++, HTML, CSS, SQL
- Knowledge and understanding of troubleshooting applications and systems within production issues.
- Ability to quickly understand applicable business acumen to provide appropriate Engineering solutions
- Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions.
- Basic understanding of cloud technologies and tools.
What Sets You Apart
- 1 or more years of experience working as a DevOps Engineer for AWS, GCP, or Azure
- 1 or more years of experience with GoLang and Python to develop automated infrastructure solutions, i.e., Terraform Custom Providers
- 1 or more years of CI/CD experience using GitLab or building and maintaining software delivery pipelines
- 1 or more years of experience with Hashicorp suite of tooling with a primary focus on Hands-on Terraform development to facilitate auto-provisioning infrastructure-as-code and Hands-on Packer development to facilitate auto-provisioning of machine images for various providers
- US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner

What We Offer
Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $78,800 - $141,830
.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
