Job Description

Company Description

GG Host is a game server hosting company. We're the official hosting partner for SCUM and Deadside, and we host dedicated servers for Minecraft, DayZ, Rust, Icarus, Windrose, and dozens of other titles. We compete with the big-name hosts on performance and support rather than just price, and we work directly with the studios behind the games we host. We're a small, fast-moving team where you'll work directly with the people making decisions.

Role Description

This is a full-time remote role for a Graduate Digital Marketer. You must be Cape Town-based, as you'll join occasional in-person strategy meetings.

We're hiring our first dedicated marketer: someone who'll own GG Host's presence across social, video, and community, and grow it from the ground up. This is a rare chance to build a marketing function from scratch rather than slot into an existing machine. You'll have real ownership and a direct line to leadership, and as our first marketer, this role grows into owning the whole marketing function as GG Host grows.

You're a recent marketing grad who's also a genuine gamer, someone who's spent real time in Discord servers, Twitch chats, and gaming communities, not just someone who plays games occasionally. You understand both the fundamentals of marketing (audience, messaging, measurement) and what actually makes gaming content land versus feel corporate.

Day to day, you will:

- Plan and produce social media content across the platforms our players actually use (Discord, X/Twitter, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit)

- Record, edit, and publish gameplay and product videos across the games we host (SCUM, Deadside, Minecraft, DayZ, Rust, and more): clips, trailers, tutorials, highlight reels

- Manage and grow our community presence, engaging directly with players in an authentic voice

- Write copy for social posts, emails, and landing pages

- Run and optimize small paid social/ad campaigns (Meta, TikTok, Reddit)

- Track what's working using basic analytics (platform insights, GA4, UTM tracking) and report back on results

- Collaborate with our partnered game studios, including Gamepires (SCUM) and Bad Pixel (Deadside), on joint-marketing initiatives

- Represent GG Host at global gaming conventions from time to time: promoting the brand, capturing content on the ground, and building relationships with studios and community figures

- Work directly with the owner to shape marketing strategy as the function grows

Qualifications

- A degree or diploma (or equivalent coursework) in marketing, communications, or a related field

- A genuine, demonstrable gaming habit: active in gaming communities, not just a casual player

- A portfolio or examples of content you've made (a YouTube channel, TikTok, Twitch clips, social posts, anything that shows you can actually produce, not just plan)

- Comfort with basic video editing tools (CapCut, Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, pick your poison)

- Working knowledge of analytics and ad platforms, or clear evidence you can pick them up fast

- Strong writing: you can switch between a punchy social caption and a clear email

- Self-starter energy: this role has a lot of white space to fill

Nice to have:

- Experience running a personal gaming-related channel or community

- Familiarity with Discord bots/server management

- Basic graphic design skills (Canva, Figma)

Perks

- Fully remote day-to-day

- A free game server for your own community, on us

- Work directly with real game studios, not just about games from a distance
