JPEG Trading is hiring a quantitative trader to monitor liquidity, manage risk, and work closely with engineers to improve trading systems.

About JPEG Trading

We’re a lean proprietary trading firm. Small headcount, high agency, very efficient. We reward independence and initiative.

Focused on identifying and capturing inefficiencies across the crypto ecosystem: CEXes, DEXes and other types of onchain protocols.

We trade spot and perpetual futures across all crypto assets, RWAs, and prediction markets.

Our business is growing explosively and we’re looking for a strong trader with experience managing risk in a high-stakes fast-paced environment.

This role requires accepting a rotating schedule of weekend on-call coverage to monitor algorithms and respond to alerts. It’s a 24/7 industry and everyone on the team contributes to covering all time zones.

Responsibilities

• Manage PnL across active strategies with a strong focus on disciplined decision-making and capital preservation.
• Monitor market, position, and operational risk in real time and respond quickly when conditions change.
• Analyze market data and trading performance to improve existing algorithms and help identify new opportunities.
• Work with external trading and operations counterparties to keep trading workflows running smoothly.
• Partner closely with engineers to drive improvements in trading infrastructure, tooling, and execution systems.
  
  

Requirements

• Prior experience trading crypto or other liquid markets programmatically (personal, academic, or professional).
• Fluency in data analysis tools (and must be strong with google sheets / excel).
• Understanding of trading APIs, order books, on-chain data, etc.
• Comfortable working autonomously and iterating quickly in a fast-moving environment.
• High intellectual curiosity, low ego, and strong internal drive.

Nice to Have

• Previous experience managing a portfolio.
• Technical competency with Python, SQL, AI.
• Market making, arbitrage, HFT, and/or MEV trading experience.
• Prior crypto experience at a hedge fund, prop shop, or trading desk.

Comp

Base + variable performance-based profit share bonus.

Must pass criminal and civil background check, professional reference checks, and do liveness KYC check with government issued identity documents.

Must pass not-north-korean screening.
