Job Description
We are looking for a Junior BI Analyst to help us verify the financial and operational assumptions for a major Italian infrastructure firm as they expand their operations. You will support our team by transforming raw data into clear models that reveal where capital is working and where it is being wasted.
About Blue Oak Consulting
Blue Oak Consulting provides independent advisory on pricing, portfolio economics, capital allocation, and acquisition assumptions. We are not a traditional consulting firm focused on broad transformation programs or high level strategy decks. Instead, we interrogate specific commercial decisions where the financial stakes are high and the existing narrative is not sufficient. Our team looks past corporate language and P&L complexity to identify where value is leaking or capital is trapped. We work across sectors like software, manufacturing, and healthcare to test whether the assumptions behind a growth plan or an acquisition actually hold under pressure. We are a small, principal led firm where the people who do the work are the ones accountable for the results. We do not take transaction contingent fees, which allows us to be completely honest about whether the economics of a decision make sense. Our goal is to provide clarity through financial discipline and a healthy amount of skepticism. We stay through the execution phase because decisions that look sound in theory often fail when they meet real world friction.
The Role
In this role, you will work in a fully remote environment as part of a small, focused team. You will spend your time digging through data sets to understand the mechanics of a business rather than just accepting surface level reports. The work is quiet, analytical, and requires a high degree of concentration and intellectual honesty. You will be expected to find discrepancies and ask why certain figures do not align with the operational reality of the client projects.
What You Will Be Doing
- Collecting and cleaning data from various sources to build foundational reports for our infrastructure client.
- Building dashboards that track key performance indicators specifically related to project costs and capital allocation.
- Assisting senior analysts in pressure testing financial models by checking the sensitivity of different variables.
- Identifying trends in historical spending to predict where future budgets might be overstretched.
- Translating complex data findings into simple, plain English summaries for our principals.
- Collaborating with the team over video calls and shared documents to refine our findings before they reach the client.
- Monitoring the execution phase of a project to see if our initial data assumptions match real world results.
