Job Description

We are looking for a Leaves and Accommodations Specialist to support our employees by managing and overseeing leave and accommodation processes. This role involves collaboration with diverse stakeholders to facilitate employees' journeys from the initiation of leave or accommodation requests through to their successful return to work. This position will be full-time and remote.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide guidance oversight and guidance on all leave cases and accommodations, ensuring adherence to company policies
  • Engage empathetically with employees through their leave/accommodation requests
  • Address complex inquiries with understanding and apply appropriate benefits to support employees’ unique situations
  • Collaborate with managers and HR Business Partners to offer education and support
  • Foster a supportive environment by promoting partnership and consultation between employees and operations
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on leave programs, ensuring alignment with company policies and processes
  • Work alongside business partners to drive the success of specialized leave policy programs
  • Offer real-time support for specialized leave and disability cases, assisting employees as needed
  • Facilitate administrative aspects of leave cases, including tracking leave, PTO usage, and coordinating with payroll
  • Conduct group and one-on-one consultations regarding leave and disability events, benefits, and options
  • Collaborate with external partners to ensure all necessary paperwork is processed accurately and efficiently while focusing on compliance with regulatory policies
  • Act as the Point of Contact for leadership on urgent matters, providing timely and accurate information
  • Proactively identify and resolve problems, even with limited information, to support employee needs
  • Implement improvement plans to address process and performance deficiencies
  • Build trust and confidence in the Benefits Team through proactive and transparent interactions
  • Handle confidential and sensitive situations with utmost discretion, maintaining the confidentiality of employee medical documentation
  • Stay informed on applicable leave and accommodation laws, including FMLA, ADA, and state/local regulations to ensure compliance

Required

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; 2-4 years of benefits-related experience with at least 2 years in Disability and Leave Administration
  • Expertise in statutory disability plans, short- and long-term disability, disability accommodation, and Federal/State leaves of absence
  • Experience partnering with external vendors (i.e. Lincoln Financial Group –LFG) to ensure compliance with leaves, disability and accommodations documentation
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and decision-making skills with a keen attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experienced with HRIS systems
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, managing multiple tasks under pressure
  • Strong analytical skills with detailed knowledge of plan designs and benefits contract language
  • Knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations affecting employee benefits programs
  • High learning agility, initiative, and ability to manage confidentiality with integrity
  • Self-directed and accountable, with the ability to earn trust and contribute positively to a culture of inclusion

Physical Demands

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions
  • Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.
  • Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor

$65,000 - $68,000 per year

The pay range for this position is listed above. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education. Benefit packages include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as 401k retirement account access. Employees in this role receive paid time off and may also be entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
