Job Description

Product Manager

Find the next product BAC should build in lending, build the first version yourself, prove it with real lenders, and own it as it becomes part of our product portfolio. Then find the next one. Most of what you try will not work. That is the job, and it is the most founder-like seat we have.

About BAC

BAC is a go-to-market systems integrator and HubSpot Diamond Partner, focused on helping financial services firms scale. We build HubSpot and Claude into a single system that runs a firm's go-to-market. We are now making a deliberate wedge into lending: do one industry properly, build a pedigree, rack up wins, then move horizontally. The product team is where the business is going, and this is the seat that finds what we build next. You will see the thesis land publicly with our relaunch in mid-August.

The role

Your charter is simple to say and hard to do: find and prove the next commercial product for BAC in lending, from zero to one, and own it as it enters our product portfolio. You scan the market, write the case, build the first version, validate it with real lenders, and position it. When it lands its first customer it becomes an official BAC product that the GTM team takes to market, you hand the build to engineering and stay on as its product owner, and you place your next bet. You run a portfolio of these on a roughly two-week rhythm, and you are strategic about which bets you place within a quarter.

  • Market reconnaissance. Find where lending workflows break. Name the institution, the workflow and the cost of the problem.
  • Business cases. Write the case before you build: the problem, the buyer, the willingness to pay, the smallest thing that would prove it, and the condition that kills it.
  • Zero-to-one build, mostly solo. Ship the first working version yourself on the HubSpot and Claude stack, using Claude Code and the HubSpot API, with minimal engineering support.
  • Validation with real lenders. Validation is a customer using it or paying for it, not a customer saying they like it.
  • Product marketing and positioning. Produce the narrative, the proof points and the objection handling that the GTM team then carries. They should not have to invent the story.
  • From launch to portfolio. When a product is validated and lands its first customer, it becomes an official BAC product the GTM team takes to market. You hand the build to engineering and stay on as its product owner, liaising with them on ongoing development and optimisation.
  • Market intelligence loop. Work with the consulting and GTM teams to read the market: where the next opportunity is to build, and how to iterate the products already deployed for clients.

The honest part: Most of what you try will not work, and that is by design. Success is killing the wrong bets fast and finding the few that are real. If you need a high hit rate, a defined roadmap, or perfect resourcing, this is not your seat. If a blank page and a hard problem is the best part of your week, it is.

It is also not the role if you run a backlog but cannot build, if you build beautifully but validate nothing, or if you cannot let a bet go. We are being upfront because the autonomy is real and so is the failure rate.

Who thrives here

We hire for three traits. Held together, they unlock a fourth, the one that matters most.

  • Agency. The independence, resilience and drive to do more on your own. Give you an inch and you take a mile; you shape circumstances instead of waiting on them.
  • Curiosity. A restless need to learn and get better. You chase the question past the obvious answer, because not knowing bothers you.
  • Taste. The judgement and timing to make the right call, and the conviction to argue it hard. You hold a real view on what is right, and you know the moment to act on it.

Hold all three at once and they unlock what we are really hiring for: a founder's mentality. An owner's mindset that treats the mission as yours and moves with a bias to act. An insurgent's certainty that we are here to change the game, not defend a position. An obsession with the front line: the customer, the community, the deal. We are building BAC as a founder's factory, and this seat is where that has to hum first.

Non-negotiables

  • Zero to one, for real. You have taken at least one product from nothing to a paying customer, largely on your own. This is the bar the whole role rests on.
  • Australian lending industry experience. You know how lending works here, across broking, banks, non-banks or lending fintech, and you can find where the workflows break.
  • HubSpot API, hands-on. Practical experience with the HubSpot API for backend access and for front-end custom UI (UI extensions). You will build on the HubSpot and Claude stack.
  • You build with Claude Code. You use Claude Code, or equivalent AI coding tools, to ship real software fast.

How you work

  • Commercial, not just technical. You write a business case, not just a spec, and you treat willingness to pay as the real signal.
  • Close to the customer. You run your own discovery and validation with real buyers.
  • You write the story. You can position and market what you build.
  • You can kill your darlings. You end the bets that are not working, without ego.

Technical toolkit

  • Languages. Fluent in TypeScript and JavaScript, and comfortable in Node.js and Python.
  • Front-end. A background in React or Next.js.
  • Version control. Comfortable working with Git and GitHub.

The ideal background

  • A full-stack engineer moving into product. Someone who can build, and now wants to own the what and the why, not only the how. This is the person we are most excited to meet.
  • A design eye, highly favoured. A design background, especially with Figma and Claude Design. In a solo build, taste in the interface is a real edge.
  • Bonus, mobile. You can build progressive web apps that deploy to both iOS and Android.
  • Australia-based and eligible. You live in Australia and are an Australian citizen or permanent resident. This role is 100% remote, with a Sydney office at World Square available if you want it.

If you meet the non-negotiables and most of the rest, we want to hear from you.

Tools you'll use

  • Platform: HubSpot (API, UI extensions, custom-coded actions)
  • AI: Claude and Claude Code
  • Design: Figma and Claude Design
  • Handover stack: our production builds run on Vercel, Supabase and Trigger.dev; you prototype and prove, engineering scales

Why BAC

  • The most founder-like seat we have. You own the mission end to end, from gap to first paying customer.
  • A real wedge. We are going deep in lending first, then horizontal. The product team is where the business is heading.
  • Build with the best tools. HubSpot, Claude and Claude Code, an AI-native stack that lets one person do what used to take a team.
  • Autonomy, honestly priced. High autonomy, a high failure rate, and real ownership. No theatre.
  • Skin in the game. A path into our employee equity scheme as the product portfolio you build grows.
