Junior Full-Stack Developer

Company Description

Sunstone Systems is a small US-based software studio. We build custom operational platforms that replace the fragmented stack most businesses run on: the tangle of disconnected apps, brittle Zapier-style automations, and constant copy-pasting between systems that breaks as a company grows.

Our clients get one coherent environment where their data, automation, and workflows live together, on infrastructure they actually own. We build it with Next.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and automation tooling, and we hold a high bar for how that software gets built: type-safe, secure, and consistent every time.

Role Description

We're hiring one junior developer to work directly with the founder. This is not a role where you'll be handed vague tickets and left alone. You'll get clear written specs and a defined set of standards. Your job is to build to them cleanly and catch what doesn't hold up. If you're early in your career but you read the whole spec, understand the code you ship, and speak up when something looks wrong, this is a strong fit.

Day to day, you will:

• Take a design document and turn it into a working mockup, then into real production UI in Next.js (App Router) and React
• Build Next.js applications end to end, from the user interface down to the data layer
• Build n8n workflows that push and pull data between our Postgres/Supabase databases and third-party tools, and do the integration work that connects those systems
• Write and reason about queries against a Postgres/Supabase backend
• Use AI coding tools as part of your daily workflow, and verify their output instead of trusting it
• Work within our established patterns and standards rather than inventing your own architecture on every task

This role is fully remote. We're starting at part-time hours with a clear path to full-time as the workload supports it.

Qualifications

• Solid TypeScript fundamentals, not just JavaScript
• Working knowledge of React, and either Next.js experience or a genuine willingness to ramp up on it quickly
• Comfort with SQL and Postgres basics: enough to write queries and understand how data is structured and secured
• Comfortable using Git and the command line
• You already use AI coding assistants daily, and you verify their output before shipping it
• Some real hands-on experience. You've built actual things with these tools, whether through work, internships, or serious personal projects. This is a junior role, but it is not a role for someone who has never shipped anything
• Excellent spoken and written English. We work closely and communicate constantly. You need to say what you mean, ask sharp questions, and be easy to understand. This is non-negotiable

• Your working hours fall inside US Central business hours, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Central Time (US). We work closely and synchronously, so real overlap matters

Nice to Have

• Experience with n8n. This is a real plus for us, since automation is a core part of what we build. If you know it well, lead with it
• Experience working in or with operations-heavy businesses
• Comfort reading and working inside SOPs, standards, and documented processes. A lot of how we work is written down, and we expect people to follow it
• Exposure to multi-tenant apps, authentication, or row-level security
• A portfolio, GitHub, or side projects we can look at
