💼 About the Role
As a Network Security Engineer (Firewall & Wazuh), you'll play a key role in managing enterprise firewall infrastructure, administering and optimizing the Wazuh SIEM platform, and strengthening the client's overall security posture. You'll work closely with Australian-based security and network teams to investigate threats, improve detection capabilities, and maintain secure, compliant environments.
🔑 Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain enterprise firewall infrastructure, including rule creation, policy reviews, firmware upgrades, and change management.
- Deploy, configure, administer, and optimize the Wazuh platform across servers and endpoints.
- Develop and fine-tune detection rules, decoders, and alerts to improve security monitoring and reduce false positives.
- Configure and maintain VPNs, site-to-site tunnels, and network segmentation.
- Investigate security alerts, perform root cause analysis, and drive incidents through to resolution.
- Harden and maintain Linux servers supporting security infrastructure.
- Maintain security documentation, audit records, and compliance reporting.
- Collaborate closely with Australian security and network engineering teams across multiple time zones.

✅ What We're Looking For
- Hands-on experience managing enterprise firewalls such as Fortinet, pfSense, Palo Alto, Sophos, or similar platforms.
- Experience deploying and administering Wazuh or another SIEM/HIDS solution in a production environment.
- Strong Linux systems administration skills.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts including routing, VLANs, VPNs, and NAT.
- Experience creating and tuning security detection rules and alerts.
- Scripting experience using Bash, Python, or similar languages for automation.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Ability to work directly with Australian technical stakeholders.
