We are seeking a mid-level IT Technical / Business Analyst to support the ongoing development, integration, and optimization of enterprise applications supporting Human Resources (HRIS) and Legal functions.
This role serves as a key liaison between business stakeholders, IT teams, and vendors, evaluate business needs, design solutions, administer systems, and ensure reliable operation of critical business applications. The ideal candidate will have experience in HRIS platforms, system integrations, middleware, and IT product management, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
HNI members work onsite four days a week (M-Th) and remotely on Fridays. This role would preferably work from our IT building in Muscatine, IA . However, we are open to candidates working from one of our corporate locations in Glen Ellyn, IL; Jasper, IN; or Grand Rapids, MI. Relocation assistance is available for a qualified candidate willing to relocate to one of these locations, but we may not able to consider candidates seeking a fully-remote work arrangement.

Primary Responsibilities
Business and Systems Analysis
- Partner with HR and Legal leaders, business analysts, and IT product managers to gather, document, and validate requirements.
- Translate business needs into functional and technical specifications for system enhancements and integrations.
- Perform gap analysis, assess process impacts, and recommend solutions that improve efficiency and compliance.
- Document workflows, system configurations, and data flows to support transparency and maintainability.
- Configure HRIS and Legal applications to meet evolving business requirements (e.g., rules, workflows, data fields, reports).
- Assist in the design and delivery of system enhancements, partnering with developers and vendors as needed.
- Test new functionality, patches, and upgrades to ensure they meet requirements and do not disrupt existing operations.
- Provide subject matter expertise on HRIS modules and related enterprise applications.

- Support integration activities between HRIS platforms and other enterprise systems (e.g., Finance, Payroll, ERP, CRM).
- Work with APIs, web services, and middleware platforms (e.g., MuleSoft, Dell Boomi, Informatica) to ensure data flows are secure and accurate.
- Monitor integrations, troubleshoot errors, and coordinate fixes with development or vendor teams.
- Document interface specifications, data mappings, and integration processes.
- Contribute to product lifecycle management, including release planning, change management, and upgrade readiness.
- Maintain system roadmaps and assist in planning for new features, integrations, and enhancements.
- Partner with vendors to manage support tickets, escalations, and service-level commitments.
- Ensure alignment with IT policies, data security standards, and compliance requirements.

- Act as a second-level support resource for HRIS and integration issues escalated from end users.
- Perform root-cause analysis and recommend long-term fixes to recurring problems.
- Develop and deliver training materials, user guides, and knowledge documentation for HR and IT stakeholders.
- Communicate system changes, enhancements, and best practices effectively to non-technical audiences.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, HR Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 5+ years of experience as a systems or technical analyst supporting HRIS applications. (UKG, ADP, SAP SuccessFactors, Workday, Oracle HCM Cloud, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of integrations, APIs, and data exchange processes.
- Familiarity with middleware platforms such as MuleSoft, Dell Boomi, or Informatica.
- Experience with SQL for queries, reporting, and data validation.
- Understanding of IT product management practices, including requirements gathering, release management, and stakeholder communication.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders.

- Experience with HR processes such as payroll, benefits, talent management, or recruiting.
