Job Description:

As a Research Scientist, your role will be to guide the students on a research project over the course of 12 weeks to submit to different competitions such as the Regeneron Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF). Our Research Program typically uses machine learning, deep learning, applied math, statistics, and/or computer science on a specific problem domain. We have our own in-house curriculum to build students up on the fundamentals of machine and deep learning, and then as a Research Scientist you will mentor students on applying neural networks, CNN’s, NLP, or other techniques to a specific problem domain. We envision this as a long-term contract role where you’ll have plenty of opportunities toward helping students fulfill their academic goals and dreams. The work is flexible and 100% remote.

Key Responsibilities:

• Guide students on an area of research using machine learning, deep learning, applied math, statistics or computer science by teaching our own in-house curriculum.

• Ideate and come up with noteworthy research topics for students to pursue based on their interests

• Help students present their research into a research poster or 18-page paper that they can use to submit to different science research fairs

• Meet with the student once or twice a week to help guide through research literature review as well as setup project environment to run their machine learning experiments

• Guide the student on how to parse, analyze, and understand the data to gain research insights and conduct hypothesis testing, experimental analysis with results and discussion

• Flexible work schedule and 100% remote work

• Use Zoom and other technology tools to provide crystal clear instruction and feedback

• Passionate about education and teaching

• Willingness to learn and take initiative to improve quality of instruction

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

• Strong background in machine learning, deep learning, math, statistics, and computer science are required

• Experience with the scientific research and the scientific method

• Published scientific articles or work is preferred but not required

• High degree of excellence and attention to detail in delivery of work 

• Quickly respond to emails and requests as needed

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Honest, open dialogue, including acknowledging mistakes when they occur and learning from them to continually improve one’s quality of work

• Receptive to critical feedback and desire to become a high performer

• Strong work ethic, high degree of integrity, desire to go above and beyond
