AI Engineer — Real-time speech-to-text for military environments. European defence startup. Paris, on-site.

A European defence startup based between Paris and Warsaw is building modern software tailored for hostile environments. Customers include European military and police units. Backed by Europe’s leading defence VC and angels including founders of Cloudflare, Quantum Systems, and ElevenLabs. Founding team: two early Cloudflare employees and a former GIGN commander. No weapons systems. No hardware.

Your first mission: a real-time speech-to-text system (Python) that works where off-the-shelf models fail — military radio, noisy environments, dense operational jargon, on-premise hardware, limited compute.

What You’ll Work On

→ Evaluate and adapt commercial and open-source speech models — build benchmarks on real field data

→ Own the full pipeline: preprocessing degraded signals, VAD, transcription, diarisation, domain fine-tuning

→ Turn raw operational recordings into clean datasets

→ Ship into a system running live under real operational constraints

Who We’re Looking For

→ Pragmatic, product-minded, strong execution — you ship

→ Owned at least one ML or data-heavy project end-to-end

→ Scientific mindset: define evaluation metrics, design experiments, draw conclusions from noisy data

→ Experience with Voice AI in resource-constrained environments

→ Comfortable with audio processing and low-latency systems

→ Want real-world impact — helping those who serve

→ Based in Paris, on-site (relocation support available)

Bonus: French language proficiency

Compensation: €60K–€80K + equity
