Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator to join a project for a public institution in Germany.



Responsibilities:


  • Administer and monitor Microsoft SQL Server environments (installation, configuration, updates)
  • Manage database performance – query, index, and execution plan optimization
  • Configure and oversee backup, replication, and disaster recovery mechanisms
  • Manage database access permissions and security
  • Monitor and troubleshoot performance issues and incidents
  • Collaborate with development teams on database structure design
  • Document environments and maintenance procedures



Requirements:


  • At least 3 years of experience administering Microsoft SQL Server databases
  • Practical knowledge of HA/DR mechanisms (Always On, replication, clustering)
  • Experience in database performance tuning and optimization
  • Familiarity with cloud database services (Azure SQL, Azure SQL Managed Instance) is a plus
  • Knowledge of monitoring and automation tools (PowerShell, Azure Monitor) is a plus
  • Proven track record of at least 3 completed projects within the last 3 years involving MS SQL Server database development
  • Experience with at least 2 completed projects focused on the maintenance and upkeep of MS SQL Server database systems
  • Experience with at least 1 completed larger-scale project involving the development and/or new build of an MS SQL Server database system
  • English proficiency sufficient for working in an international environment



Nice to have


  • German language skills - candidates with at least a B1 level can qualify for a higher rate
