AWS DevOps Engineer (SC Cleared) – Contract
Location: Fully Remote (UK)
Contract Length: Initial 6 Months (Likely Extension)
Day Rate: £475 per day (Inside IR35)
Clearance: Active SC Clearance Required
The Opportunity
We are supporting a major UK Government programme seeking an experienced AWS DevOps Engineer to join an established engineering team delivering secure, cloud-native platforms.
This is a fully remote contract offering an initial 6-month engagement, with a strong likelihood of extension. Due to the nature of the project, candidates must hold active SC clearance and be eligible to work on secure government systems from day one.
Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins.
- Deploy and manage containerised applications within Kubernetes environments.
- Develop automation tooling and scripts using Python.
- Work closely with software engineers, architects and security teams to improve deployment processes.
- Monitor platform health, performance and reliability.
- Support infrastructure improvements, incident resolution and platform optimisation.
- Ensure solutions align with DevSecOps best practices and government security standards.

Essential Skills
- Strong commercial experience within AWS cloud environments.
- Excellent Kubernetes experience.
- Strong Python scripting and automation skills.
- Proven experience building and maintaining Jenkins CI/CD pipelines.
- Infrastructure as Code experience (Terraform or CloudFormation desirable).
- Experience with Linux administration.
- Strong understanding of containerisation, networking and cloud security.
- Experience working within Agile delivery teams.
