Manual Tester

**FULLY REMOTE**

ScolerTec Inc. has multiple openings for Manual Testers with extensive experience in software testing, quality assurance, functional validation, regression testing, and defect management.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background designing and executing manual test cases for web-based and cloud-native applications. This role will collaborate with developers, quality analysts, automation testers, product owners, and business analysts to verify that application functionality meets requirements, acceptance criteria, accessibility standards, and release-quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop detailed manual test cases from user stories, acceptance criteria, functional requirements, and design specifications.
• Execute functional, integration, regression, system, end-to-end, smoke, sanity, and user-interface testing.
• Validate application workflows, business rules, data integrity, and integration points across system modules.
• Test web-based and cloud-native applications developed using ReactJS, Node.js, APIs, and microservices.
• Identify, document, prioritize, and track defects using Jira, Azure DevOps, or equivalent defect-management tools.
• Create clear defect reports that include reproducible steps, expected results, actual results, supporting evidence, and severity.
• Collaborate with developers to investigate issues, clarify expected behavior, validate fixes, and perform regression testing.
• Analyze functional and technical documentation to ensure test coverage aligns with business requirements.
• Maintain traceability between requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, test cases, test results, and defects.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including daily standups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
• Perform smoke and sanity testing during deployment cycles to confirm application stability and release readiness.
• Validate front-end functionality, responsive behavior, browser compatibility, and user experience.
• Perform API validation using tools such as Postman, ReadyAPI, or equivalent technologies.
• Verify Section 508 accessibility compliance and support validation of applicable NIST and FedRAMP requirements.
• Collaborate with automation and performance testers to align manual-testing coverage with automated regression and performance-testing scope.
• Support user acceptance testing and verify that applications are ready for deployment.
• Maintain comprehensive test evidence and contribute to audit-readiness and compliance documentation.
• Support the QA and Compliance Lead with test documentation, execution metrics, quality dashboards, and readiness reporting.
• Assist in defining test strategies for cloud-based greenfield application-development initiatives.
• Review automated test results and perform targeted manual validation where additional investigation is needed.
• Provide testing status, risks, defects, coverage, and release-readiness updates to project stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience testing software applications in quality assurance, validation, or related roles.
• Strong understanding of the software-testing lifecycle, including test planning, test design, execution, defect management, retesting, regression testing, and reporting.
• Experience developing test plans, test procedures, test cases, expected outcomes, and verification statements.
• Experience conducting unit-level, integration, system, regression, and end-to-end validation.
• Comprehensive understanding of Agile and DevOps methodologies and culture.

• Experience working within Agile or SAFe development environments.

Must Have:

• 5+ years of hands-on manual software-testing experience.
• Proven experience designing and executing manual test cases based on user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional requirements.
• Strong experience with functional, integration, regression, system, end-to-end, smoke, and sanity testing.
• Experience validating web-based and cloud-native applications.
• Experience testing front-end applications developed using ReactJS or similar JavaScript frameworks.
• Experience validating APIs and back-end functionality developed using Node.js or similar technologies.
• Understanding of API-testing concepts and experience with Postman, ReadyAPI, or equivalent tools.
• Experience validating workflows, business rules, user interfaces, and data integrity across integrated modules.
• Experience using test-management and defect-tracking tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, TestRail, or Zephyr.
• Experience documenting defects with clear reproduction steps, expected results, actual results, evidence, and severity.
• Experience validating resolved defects and performing targeted regression testing.
• Experience maintaining traceability between requirements, test cases, test results, and defects.
• Familiarity with browser developer tools for debugging, network inspection, and UI validation.
• Experience testing containerized applications using Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, or similar technologies.
• Experience defining or contributing to test strategies for cloud-based greenfield application-development initiatives.
• Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility testing.
• Familiarity with NIST, FedRAMP, or other compliance-driven software-testing environments.
• Experience supporting release-readiness reviews and user acceptance testing.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with developers, business analysts, automation testers, and product stakeholders.

Automation and Technical Experience:

• Experience developing or maintaining automated test scripts for ReactJS and Node.js applications.
• Exposure to automation frameworks and tools such as Selenium and Playwright.
• Familiarity with JavaScript testing tools such as Jest, Mocha, and Chai.
• Experience managing or executing tests using TestNG, NUnit, or equivalent testing frameworks.
• Ability to review automated test execution results and identify areas requiring manual validation.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated regression-testing processes.
