Security Architect - ERP

SECURITY ARCHITECT — ERP | Berlin | 24-Month AUG Engagement | Up to €125,000 p.a.

Germany's national digital health infrastructure is expanding — and it needs a Security Architect who can define what secure looks like at scale. This is a senior, strategically visible role protecting the sensitive health data of over 80 million citizens. No defence clearance. Eligibility: EU/EEA citizen or valid unrestricted German/EU work permit required. Just deep security architecture expertise, excellent German, and a track record in regulated environments.

THE CLIENT

A leading public-sector technology organisation responsible for the digitisation of Germany's healthcare system. The Security division ensures data protection and IT security across all national digital health applications — in close coordination with BSI and BfDI. This is one of the most consequential security architecture roles available in the German public sector today.

THE ROLE

You will define the strategic security architecture for cloud platforms within a national digital health infrastructure. Your remit: reference architectures, security specifications for cloud-native services, and regulatory compliance — at a scale few security architects ever encounter.

YOU WILL

• Own the long-term security architecture strategy for a cloud platform serving the entire German population

• Develop reference architectures and security specifications for cloud-native technologies and platform services

• Advise architecture, development, and operations teams on security-relevant design decisions

• Ensure traceability and auditability of security requirements through documentation and ADRs

• Engage with BSI, BfDI, and regulatory stakeholders on security compliance and standards

• Support secure implementation of cloud solutions, accounting for scalability, automation, and resilience in a regulated environment

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

• 5–10 years of IT Security Architecture or Cloud Security Architecture experience

• Proven track record designing reference architectures for complex IT landscapes in regulated environments — healthcare, KRITIS, or public sector

• Strong conceptual, independent, and solution-oriented approach

• Master's or Diploma in Computer Science, IT Security, or comparable

• German C1+ — written and spoken (all client communication in German)

• English C1+ — written and spoken

ADVANTAGEOUS

• BSI C5, ISO/IEC 27001, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, or Zero Trust Architecture

• DevSecOps, Security as Code, or automated security controls in cloud-native environments

• BSI IT-Grundschutz, KRITIS, or healthcare-specific regulatory experience (ePA, eRezept, TI)
