Key Responsibilities
Evaluate emerging AI technologies.

Collaborate with Cyber Security, Data Protection, Legal, Data, and Academic teams to ensure AI initiatives align with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and strategic ambitions.
Conduct risk assessments and manage risk registers and treatment plans.
Engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

This role operates primarily on a remote working arrangement that will require little to no travel into our various UK sites. Our working model arrangements are a non-contractual benefit so please note that an Arden work location is added to our employment contracts.

About Our Department

The Technical BA sits within our Technology Department that is crucial to making sure our employees and students can work effectively, deliver projects, find the right solutions and ensure we develop the technology that will make the biggest difference.

Our IT team is made up of around 65 employees with a vast range of skills from Software Development to IT Operations and Security.

About The Opportunity

We're looking for an AI & Emerging Technologies Analyst to help shape how AI is adopted across the University. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of technology, information security, data protection and governance, ensuring new AI solutions are innovative, secure and compliant while delivering real value to our students and colleagues.

Working as part of our Information Security team, you'll evaluate emerging AI technologies, support the implementation of new solutions, and help develop the policies, frameworks and controls that enable the safe and responsible use of AI. You'll collaborate with colleagues across Cyber Security, Data Protection, Legal, Data and Academic teams to ensure AI initiatives align with regulatory requirements, industry standards and the University's strategic ambitions.

This is an exciting role for someone who enjoys combining technical understanding with critical thinking, governance and stakeholder engagement. You'll have the opportunity to influence how AI is used across the University, contribute to an evolving area of technology, and develop your expertise in AI governance, information security and emerging technologies as part of a forward-thinking organisation committed to responsible innovation.

About You

You're passionate about the opportunities AI presents and equally committed to ensuring it's adopted responsibly, ethically and securely. You enjoy working across both technical and governance disciplines, translating complex requirements into practical solutions, and collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders. With a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to learning, you're excited by the opportunity to help shape the safe use of AI within a forward-thinking university.

Essential Requirements

  • A relevant degree (such as Data Science, Computer Science, AI, Law or Policy) or equivalent professional experience in AI, information security or governance.
  • At least two years' experience in a technical, information security or governance role involving AI implementation, risk or compliance.
  • Understanding of AI governance principles and the responsible, ethical deployment of AI technologies.
  • Knowledge of ISO 42001, ISO 27001, GDPR and the UK Data Protection Act, with an awareness of emerging UK and EU AI legislation.
  • Experience drafting policies, procedures and governance documentation.
  • Experience conducting risk assessments and managing risk registers and treatment plans.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to assess security controls and identify risks and opportunities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience using AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT or Google Gemini in a professional setting.
