Job Description

Forward Deployed Engineer

Location: New York, NY (Hybrid)

Full-Time

Compensation: $185,000–$240,000 base salary + competitive equity

About the Role

We are looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer with 3–6 years of experience to embed directly with portfolio companies, ship agentic software into live operations, and own outcomes from implementation through ongoing optimization.

This is a Palantir-style Forward Deployed Engineering role at a rapidly growing software holding company. You're not writing decks—you'll be building production systems that create lasting impact across an entire portfolio of software businesses.

What You'll Do

  • Embed with portfolio companies to understand their operating models, build trust with operators, and identify the highest-leverage workflow opportunities for agentic software.
  • Build integrations, prompts, evaluation frameworks, and user interfaces to deploy the first agentic workflows using the company's core platform.
  • Operate and optimize deployed systems after launch, adjusting autonomy levels and ensuring smooth handoffs once solutions are stable.
  • Serve as the primary technical partner for business leaders, setting expectations, building trust, and ensuring successful adoption.
  • Capture successful deployment patterns and develop reusable playbooks that accelerate future implementations across the portfolio.

Required Qualifications

  • 3–6 years of experience in full-stack, customer-facing software or product engineering, or Forward Deployed Engineering.
  • Strong full-stack development skills using:
  • TypeScript or Python
  • React
  • SQL
  • Experience shipping production LLM or agentic software, including evaluation frameworks, autonomy controls, and outcome tracking.
  • Prior embedded or customer-facing engineering experience (such as Forward Deployed Engineering, Solutions Engineering, or similar deployment-focused roles).
  • Strong business instincts with the ability to understand operational challenges and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Based in or willing to relocate to New York, NY.
  • Comfortable traveling 2–3 days per week throughout the East Coast to customer locations.

Technical Environment

  • TypeScript
  • Python
  • React
  • SQL
  • LLMs / Foundation Models
  • Agentic Workflows
  • Evals
  • Snowflake
  • Databricks
  • Apache Iceberg
  • Event-driven Systems

About the Company

Our client is a rapidly growing software holding company focused on acquiring, building, growing, and holding exceptional vertical market software businesses for the long term.

Rather than operating as a traditional financial firm, the company is led by technology entrepreneurs passionate about building great software. They partner with founders who have spent years deeply understanding their customers and markets, providing a long-term home for their businesses while continuing to invest in future growth.

Backed by $250M in Series B funding, the company maintains a permanent capital base with a long-term investment horizon and is committed to growing its portfolio rather than preparing businesses for resale.

Founded in 2024, the organization has grown to approximately 85 employees and continues to expand rapidly.

Additional Information

  • Hybrid schedule with a minimum of three days in the office each week (four preferred).
  • Competitive equity package.
  • Visa sponsorship available.
  • Relocation assistance available.
