Android Developer (Kotlin) — Kiosk App | 360Synergy
Remote | Middle / Senior | Full-time or Contract
About the Project
We are looking for a Middle/Senior Android Developer to continue development of SynergyKiosk — an Android application that turns a tablet into an autonomous feedback kiosk. The app runs in Device Owner (Fully Managed Device) mode — full control over the device: navigation lock, screen management, OTA updates, remote commands.
What the app does:
- Collects customer ratings and feedback (4-level rating scale)
- Runs in kiosk mode (Lock Task Mode) — users cannot exit the app
- Remote management via Firebase Cloud Messaging (sleep, wake, reboot, update, set company)
- Real-time config and schedule sync via Firestore
- Sends feedback to the backend via REST API (Retrofit) with retry mechanism (WorkManager)
- Per-company branding support (logo, colors)
- QR scanner for device-to-company/location binding (CameraX + ML Kit)
- Background tasks: heartbeat, sleep/wake schedule, auto-updates

Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the Android kiosk app using Kotlin + Jetpack Compose
- Work with Device Owner API (DevicePolicyManager): kiosk mode, provisioning, OTA updates
- Integrate with Firebase (Firestore realtime listeners, FCM push commands)
- Interact with the backend REST API (Retrofit)
- Write unit/UI tests (JUnit, MockK, Turbine, Compose Testing)
- Understand and navigate backend code (Spring Boot + Kotlin) for API contract alignment
- Work with CI/CD pipeline (GitHub Actions)
- Code review and maintain codebase quality

Requirements
Must-have:
- 3+ years of commercial Android development in Kotlin
- Experience with Jetpack Compose and Material 3
- Knowledge of architecture patterns: MVI / MVVM, Clean Architecture
- Experience with Hilt (Dagger)
- Experience with Firebase (Firestore, FCM)
- Experience with Retrofit / OkHttp
- Experience with Coroutines + Flow (StateFlow, Channel)
- Understanding of Device Owner / Device Policy Manager API, or willingness to learn quickly
- Ability to read and understand backend code in Kotlin + Spring Boot
- Git (feature branches, pull requests)
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with Lock Task Mode / kiosk applications
- Experience with CameraX / ML Kit
- Experience with WorkManager and background processing
- Knowledge of Spring Boot at the level of reading and editing endpoints
- Experience with PostgreSQL and migrations (Flyway)
