Role Description The Position Management Specialist II is a full-time, on-site role based in Fairfax, VA, responsible for supporting accurate and efficient management of position data within FCPS’ human resources and financial systems. This role maintains and updates position records, ensures alignment between staffing allocations and budget, and collaborates with HR, payroll, and school-based administrators to resolve position-related issues. The specialist reviews and processes position requests, audits data for compliance with FCPS policies and regulations, and prepares reports and analyses to support staffing decisions. Daily activities include data entry and validation, responding to inquiries about position structures, assisting with organizational changes, and contributing to process improvements that enhance the integrity of position management across the division.

- Demonstrated experience with position management, HRIS or financial systems, and accurate data entry and maintenance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret staffing, budgeting, and organizational data.
- Proficiency with spreadsheets and databases, and comfort working with large data sets and reporting tools.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with school and central office staff at multiple levels.
- High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of human resources, budgeting, or public sector administration; experience in K–12 education or government is beneficial.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, finance, public administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
