[What you will be working on]
We are seeking a Systems Engineer to drive the integration of cutting-edge Smart City projects, while championing modern Systems Engineering (SE) governance across our projects. In this role, you will design and maintain the scalable middleware, APIs, and event-driven telemetry pipelines that connect smart district applications, municipal IoT networks, and Building Management Systems (BMS). Simultaneously, you will serve as a Systems Engineer in our Systems Engineering Practice, applying the INCOSE framework to establish integration policies, govern processes, and conduct outreach to align partner agencies with systems engineering standards.
What You'll Do
- Smart City Software Development: Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend microservices and middleware using Java and Spring Boot to support smart city operations and estate management.
- Smart District & OT Integration: Build robust protocol adapters for REST APIs, MQTT, OPC UA, BACnet, Modbus, and RabbitMQ/AMQP to enable seamless data transformation, validation, and routing from sensors, utility systems, and smart buildings.
- Event-Driven Telemetry Pipelines: Architect reliable, asynchronous messaging and event-processing systems using RabbitMQ to handle city-scale data streams, implementing robust fault handling and message reliability.
- SE Practice, Governance & INCOSE Alignment: Anchor the organization's SE Practice by establishing governance frameworks based on INCOSE lifecycle processes. Lead the standardization, review, and change management of complex processes across multiple smart city projects.
- Outreach & Stakeholder Alignment: Conduct technical outreach and collaborative workshops with external municipal agencies and technology vendors to align on domain-specific policies, interoperability standards, and systems engineering practices.
