Own the Digital and Technology strategy and roadmap for the Argus Group – a growing, multi-entity NZ manufacturer on an ambitious growth trajectory.

Operating across industrial heating, advanced cable and harness assemblies and contract manufacturing. Argus partners with customers operating in some of the world’s most demanding industries including aerospace, medical technology and advanced industrial applications.


This is a newly created role reporting to the Chief Operating Officer. You will lead Technology across the group, with accountability for digital strategy, infrastructure, cyber security, operational technology, data governance, business systems and productivity improvement across all Argus entities.


You will inherit a clean slate with genuine executive support and the authority to make meaningful change. This is a permanent, full-time position based at their Christchurch headquarters.


What you will do:

Everything starts with strategy, however, you will quickly be hands on executing the digital transformation roadmap. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and executing on the technology strategy, creating a visible roadma aligned with the business needs
  • Partnering with business units to optimise existing systems and identify technology solutions to support the business’ growth
  • Leading the governance and control framework, with particular focus on cyber security enhancement
  • Championing safe and practical adoption of new technology across the organisation
  • Holding full technology budget responsibility and driving cost efficiency
  • Leading, coaching, and building a small, dedicated team of IT professionals, with support from external vendor partners
  • Skills and experience we are looking for:Technology leadership experience in manufacturing, industrial, or complex SME environments
  • A proven track record building and executing digital capability, not just managing existing processes
  • Solid cyber security credentials – CIS, Essential 8, or equivalent frameworks and a strong knowledge of data protection and control.
  • Experience with ERP systems and business systems integration (NetSuite desirable)
  • Strong vendor and managed service provider management capability
  • Commercially pragmatic and outcomes-focused, with strong stakeholder influencing skills
  • An early adopter’s instinct for new technology including automation and artificial intelligence.
  • Credibility with both technical teams and senior business leaders
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in IT, Engineering, or Business; CISM, CISSP, ITIL, or PMP certifications advantageous

Please note - Candidates must be based in or willing to relocate to Christchurch. NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa is required.
