Test Engineer (Database Testing)
£400/day | Inside IR35 | Fully Remote (MUST be UK Based) | 2-Month Contract
We're looking for an experienced Test Engineer to join a fast-paced delivery team on a short-term engagement, focusing on database validation and testing across a complex enterprise environment.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in database testing, who is comfortable validating large datasets, writing complex SQL queries, and ensuring data integrity across Oracle environments. You'll work closely with developers, Business Analysts and QA colleagues to verify data migrations, integrations and database functionality.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and execute database test plans and test cases
- Validate data integrity, accuracy and consistency across Oracle databases
- Write and execute complex SQL queries to support functional and data validation testing
- Test database changes, stored procedures, triggers and ETL processes
- Identify, log and manage defects through to resolution
- Work closely with developers and Business Analysts to understand technical requirements
- Support integration, regression and system testing activities where required
- Produce clear test evidence and communicate progress to project stakeholders

Essential Experience
- Proven experience as a Test Engineer with a strong focus on database testing
- Extensive experience testing Oracle Database
- Strong SQL skills, including writing complex queries for data validation
- Experience validating large volumes of data and identifying data quality issues
- Knowledge of database objects including tables, views, stored procedures and triggers
- Experience using defect management and test management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps or similar
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
