About The Role

We're looking for a hands-on IT Operations Manager to run IT in our remote-first company. You'll lead a small team to manage IT processes, policies, assets, security, compliance and vendor relationships — while staying deeply hands-on yourself, particularly on endpoint management and identity.

This is not a purely managerial position. You'll write, maintain and enforce the specifications and documentation that IT runs on, and you'll personally drive the technical upleveling of our environment. You'll also have the support of an MSP for routine technical tasks and for projects beyond your team's capacity, and you'll be responsible for managing that relationship well.

On a typical day you will:

  • Manage internal IT projects — such as software rollouts, endpoint hardening or policy updates — coordinating between the MSP, internal stakeholders and your team.
  • Ensure day-to-day tasks are completed: onboardings, offboardings, license allocation and support queries. Depending on the task, you may complete it yourself, delegate to your team or hand it to the MSP.
  • Work hands-on in Microsoft Intune and Google Workspace Admin to configure, secure and maintain our endpoint and identity environment.
  • Write, maintain and enforce IT specifications, documentation and runbooks so that processes are repeatable and auditable.
  • Manage the MSP relationship to ensure SLAs are met, support is delivered and projects land correctly.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of company hardware and software assets, including serial numbers, assignments and device health.
  • Drive company-wide adherence to IT policies through both system-level controls and training.
  • Continuously improve IT operations, security posture and the employee experience.


Desired profile

  • Currently running an IT Operations team at a 100 to 500 person organization, with an MSP providing external support.
  • Experience working in a remote-first company with limited on-premises infrastructure.
  • At least 3 years of IT Operations experience, including team leadership and vendor management.
  • Experience writing, maintaining and enforcing IT specifications and documentation.
  • Has led the hands-on technical upleveling of a similar organization.
  • Experience implementing zero-trust security.
  • Strong technical skills in:
    • Microsoft Intune (hands-on, high proficiency)
    • Google Workspace Admin (hands-on)
    • Addigy or similar Apple endpoint management (a plus)
    • Collaboration tools (e.g. Zoom, Slack, etc.)
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to explain IT processes clearly to a non-technical audience.
  • Proactive and results-oriented.
