About The Role
We are seeking a motivated Junior Software Developer to join our Observability team. In this role, you will contribute to developing a cloud-native monitoring stack that integrates leading open-source monitoring tools. Your work will focus on creating a resilient, scalable, and user-friendly system that provides deep operational insights. You will be instrumental in designing features, debugging issues, and collaborating with a globally distributed team of engineers. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge observability solutions, ensuring seamless operational experiences for users and administrators alike. You will also have the chance to represent Canonical at industry conferences, sharing knowledge and expanding your professional network. The role is remote, with the potential for international travel to participate in team events and conferences, fostering a vibrant and engaging work environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field
- Proficiency in Python development, with a track record in open source contributions preferred
- Working knowledge of Go programming language
- Passion for technology and working with talented teams
- Strong soft skills, including being thoughtful, self-motivated, and enterprising
- Interest and experience with at least two of the following: Ubuntu Linux, container images, Debian packaging, snap, distributed systems

- Write, test, and document high-quality code to implement new features and improvements
