Research Scientist - Circadian Neural Networks

New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to appoint a Research Scientist to investigate gene expression in circadian neural networks. The successful applicant will use a combination of molecular and electrophysiological approaches to investigate how gene expression contributes to the rhythms in excitability and plasticity of circadian clock neurons in rodents . The project will be based at NYU Abu Dhabi and will be co-supervised by Dipesh Chaudhury and Justin Blau.

Responsibilities

• Perform single cell gene expression from mice brain nuclei and single cell data analysis
• Stereotaxic surgeries for circuit tracing and silencing specific genes
• Perform slice electrophysiology and data analysis using Clampfit
• Bulk RNA sequencing and data analysis
• Mice behavioral experiments using wheel running, PIR etc.
• Mice brain immunohistochemistry

Applicants must have a PhD with at least six years research experience in Circadian Biology post PhD. The candidate should have high quality first author research article demonstrating the research capabilities. Additional requirements are excellent communication skills in English and knowledge in advanced electrophysiological techniques. The terms of employment are very competitive and include housing and educational subsidies for children.
