Your Mission

As a Senior Developer, reporting to the Corporate Platforms Manager, your mission is to lead the design, development, and maintenance of advanced technical solutions that support the organisation’s strategic goals. You will apply your extensive technical expertise to solve complex problems, mentor junior engineers, and ensure the operational success and continuous improvement of Jira and Confluence, maximising business value efficiently and ensuring an exceptional user experience.

The Corporate Platforms team is responsible for enabling staff productivity through the use of corporate tools, process automation and reporting. This global team, spread between London, Malaga and Madrid forms part of IT Services within a global technology company.

The Senior Atlassian Developer will work closely with customers to understand requirements, and administer, design, and implement technical solutions within the Atlassian Data Center. Responsible for supporting test, development, and production environments of the Atlassian suite and performing routine and unexpected upgrades. This includes the build, development, maintenance, and automation of workflows in Jira, and the development of plugins to extend Jira capabilities. Responsible for developing dashboards, configures custom fields, supports Jira configurations, creates custom preset filters, test outcomes, and identifies defects. Responsible for establishing and maintaining API connections.

What You'll Do

  • Develop/support solutions that extend the Atlassian platform, such as custom permissions-based Confluence pages, Jira projects, third party Atlassian plugins, custom reporting, and user interfaces.
  • Find creative solutions to solve customer problems and implement them in web form applications.
  • Engage with clients to fully understand complex requirements to implement project setups and workflows.
  • Work closely with the colleagues to gain trust, propose creative solutions, and get buy-in for design and implementation.
  • Troubleshoot problems with users such as permission/security restrictions, notifications, workflows, etc.
  • Connect with industry and channel resources to collaborate and bring innovative approaches to client work.
  • Develop metrics, dashboards, and advanced filters to provide end-users and business leadership with meaningful operational/performance metrics and status reports.
  • Contribute to planning, testing, and implementing upgrades and migrations for Atlassian tool suite.
  • Create reporting using Atlassian add-ons, security schemes, extensions, and configurations.
  • Identify areas for process automation and designing/implementing solutions to improve efficiency and operations.
  • Provide end user product based training.
  • Lead the design and development of complex technical solutions, ensuring they meet business requirements and industry standards.
  • Maintain, optimise, and scale existing systems and infrastructure to ensure high performance, availability, and security.
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve intricate technical issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering their professional growth and development.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all technical solutions, including design specifications, system configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, business units, and external vendors, to ensure seamless integration and implementation of technical solutions.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends, recommending and implementing innovative solutions to enhance system capabilities and performance.
  • Lead reviews, testing, and quality assurance processes to ensure the delivery of high-quality technical solutions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying areas for enhancement and implementing best practices in engineering processes.

What You'll Bring

  • 3-5 years hands-on experience with Atlassian administration and Jira development (certification preferred but not required)
  • Strong understanding of Jira workflows, issue types, screens, fields, and permissions.
  • Experience with Jira Service Management configurations, including request types, SLAs, and customer portals.
  • Hands-on experience with large-scale Atlassian implementations and/or Atlassian Data Center Deployments.
  • Knowledge of ITIL, Agile, continuous integration practices and service management best practices.
  • Experience integrating with other tools outside of the Atlassian suite
  • Strong technical skills in relevant engineering disciplines, with a proven ability to lead the design, development, and maintenance of complex systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse and resolve complex technical issues.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy in all technical tasks and documentation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering collaboration and professional growth.
  • Strong collaborative skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Significant experience in an engineering role, with a proven track record of leading projects and delivering advanced technical solutions.
