About the Role
We are seeking a Layout Artist (Freelancer) to support advanced AI evaluation initiatives focused on page layout design, publication production, visual composition, document formatting, and AI-generated layout evaluation.
In this role, you will evaluate AI-generated layouts, magazines, brochures, books, catalogs, presentations, marketing collateral, and print-ready documents. Your expertise will help improve AI systems designed for document design, publishing automation, graphic production, and visual communication.
This position is ideal for professionals with experience in layout design, desktop publishing, graphic design, publishing, print production, or editorial design.
Responsibilities
- Create deliverables addressing real-world page layout and publication design scenarios.
- Annotate and evaluate AI-generated layouts, editorial pages, brochures, books, catalogs, reports, presentations, and marketing materials.
- Assess AI outputs for layout consistency, visual hierarchy, typography, readability, and production readiness.
- Design professional page layouts for books, magazines, brochures, newsletters, catalogs, annual reports, presentations, and marketing collateral.
- Apply effective visual composition principles by organizing text, images, graphics, whitespace, and design elements into balanced, visually appealing layouts.
- Develop and maintain grid systems to ensure alignment, consistency, scalability, and efficient content organization across multi-page publications.
- Apply professional typography practices, including font selection, hierarchy, spacing, kerning, leading, paragraph styles, and readability optimization.
- Prepare layouts for print and digital publishing, ensuring proper margins, bleeds, image resolution, color settings, and export-ready files.
- Review AI-generated layouts for alignment accuracy, typography consistency, spacing, visual balance, image placement, and publication quality.
- Identify layout inconsistencies, typography issues, image quality problems, formatting defects, and production risks in AI-generated outputs.
- Provide structured feedback to improve AI performance in layout generation, editorial design, and document production.
- Review peer-developed deliverables to maintain quality and consistency standards.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Publishing, Fine Arts, Multimedia, or a related field is preferred.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in layout design, desktop publishing, editorial design, graphic design, or print production.
- Designing professional layouts for books, magazines, brochures, reports, catalogs, presentations, and marketing materials.
- Creating structured grid-based layouts that support readability and consistent visual hierarchy.
- Applying advanced typography techniques for high-quality print and digital publications.
- Preparing layouts for commercial printing and digital publishing while maintaining production standards.
- Reviewing AI-generated layouts for formatting quality, design consistency, and production readiness.
- Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Figma, Microsoft Office, or other layout and design software is preferred.
- Strong visual design skills, creativity, and attention to detail.
- Excellent written English communication skills.
- Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated layouts for visual quality, readability, and technical accuracy.
- Ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced environment.
