About the Position
As a Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining backend systems primarily using Ruby on Rails.
Rather than simply implementing requested features, you’ll collaborate closely with Product Managers, Designers, and Business stakeholders to identify fundamental business and technical challenges, helping deliver meaningful product improvements.
You’ll participate throughout the entire development lifecycle from architecture and implementation to operational improvements and technology selection—while working on products that impact tens of millions of users.

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend systems using Ruby on Rails
- Lead feature development within your team
- Estimate, plan, and drive development projects through production release
- Design and improve backend architecture
- Refactor and improve existing systems
- Reduce technical debt and improve engineering productivity
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and Business teams to define product requirements
- Improve products through user interviews, experimentation, and A/B testing

Requirements
Required
- 3+ years of professional web application development experience using Ruby
- Hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails
- Experience working in collaborative software development teams
- Experience communicating and collaborating with non-engineering stakeholders
- Business-level Japanese proficiency (approximately JLPT N1)
- Ability to participate in technical discussions, write technical documentation, and communicate effectively in Japanese
