Voidpet is an a16z-backed game studio building the next generation of monster collection games.

Our first app, Voidpet Garden, was named one of Google's Best Apps of 2023.

Since then, we've launched Voidpet Dungeon, our flagship RPG, and we're now building our next game.

We are an 8-person team working fully remote over Discord.


Role Description

We’re hiring a game developer to help build our next game from the ground up. You’ll be a core member of the team taking the project from 0 to 1, working closely with the founders on gameplay, systems, economy, progression, and technical direction.

The game is an economy-heavy progression game inspired by titles like Hay Day, Clash of Clans, and Palworld. We’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys these kinds of games and understands what makes their systems compelling.

We ship quickly, prototype aggressively, and use AI wherever it can increase our speed and leverage.


What You’ll Do

  • Build core gameplay, economy, and progression systems from scratch
  • Prototype mechanics and iterate quickly through playtesting
  • Collaborate directly with the founders on game design and technical direction
  • Own major features from concept to release
  • Use AI to increase development speed and reduce repetitive work

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of software engineering or game development experience
  • Experience with Unity or Godot
  • Strong programming fundamentals
  • Comfortable using AI as a core part of your development workflow
  • Strong product sense and game design intuition
  • High agency. You do not wait for tickets.


Nice to Have

  • Experience shipping mobile or live-service games
  • Enjoys games like Hay Day, Clash of Clans, and Palworld.
  • Experience designing economy, progression, crafting, or resource-management systems


Compensation

$150k–$200k
