Job Description

Interior Designer / Senior Interior Designer - Hong Kong

About Studio X

Studio X is an independent commercial interior design studio working across Hong Kong, Singapore and the wider region. We design retail, workplace, hospitality and mixed-use environments for clients looking for more than conventional solutions. Our work is concept-led, commercially grounded and developed with a strong emphasis on originality, spatial experience and visual communication.

We are building a studio of designers who question norms, avoid the predicable, whilst bringing a clear point of view and striving to make their contribution visible in the finished work.

The Role

We are looking for an Interior Designer or Senior Interior Designer with approximately 3 to 6 years of relevant experience to join our Hong Kong studio.

This is a design-led role for an ambitious designer who wants to contribute ideas rather than simply execute instructions. You will be expected to explore alternative approaches, develop clear design narratives and help raise the creative and presentation quality of the studio’s work. You will also have direct exposure to clients, senior designers and regional projects, with increasing responsibility for carrying ideas through from concept to implementation.

The role will include:

• Developing concepts, narratives and spatial planning proposals

• Producing presentations, mood boards, material palettes and design schemes

• Developing designs through design development and technical stages

• Coordinating finishes, furniture, fixtures and equipment

• Participating in client meetings, presentations, site visits and design reviews

• Working with consultants, contractors and suppliers during project delivery

• Taking increasing ownership of projects and client relationships

We are not looking for a drafting-only designer or a project manager. Technical competence matters, but it must be supported by strong design judgement, curiosity and a clear creative point of view.

What We Are Looking For

• Approximately 3 to 6 years of commercial interior design experience

• Strong conceptual design and space-planning ability

• Experience in retail, workplace, hospitality or F&B interiors

• A carefully selected portfolio showing concept development, spatial thinking and presentation quality

• Clear evidence of your own contribution to each project shown

• Strong material, finish and detailing awareness

• Confidence communicating and presenting design ideas

• The ability to work collaboratively while taking responsibility for your own work

• A degree or diploma in Interior Design, Architecture or a related discipline

• Good written and spoken English

• Cantonese or Mandarin is an advantage

Software Skills

• Strong AutoCAD proficiency is required

• Adobe Creative Suite proficiency is required

• Experience with SketchUp, Rhino or comparable 3D modelling software is beneficial

• Other relevant 3D, rendering and visualisation software will be considered

• Additional skills in animation, motion graphics, video editing or presentation-focused software are an advantage

Applicants should submit a CV, portfolio and salary expectations to:-

[email protected]

Candidates already based in Hong Kong or holding the right to work in Hong Kong are preferred. Exceptional overseas candidates requiring employment visa sponsorship will also be considered.
