Position Purpose:

The Senior Marketing and Communications Manager will focus on expanding the company's reach by managing the mix of customers and products. This role is pivotal in developing strategies to enhance brand awareness, engagement, and social media presence. The manager will execute marketing strategies, manage sales tools, and handle lead generation through internal and external communication efforts as well as manage the digital marketing and communications strategy.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Execute Marketing Strategies: Create and implement comprehensive marketing plans that align with the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Brand Management: Maintain and enhance the company’s brand image and voice across marketing channels.
  • Content Creation: Oversee the creation of engaging and relevant content for various platforms including social media, websites, email campaigns, and print materials.
  • Digital Marketing: Manage digital marketing efforts, email marketing, social media campaigns, and online advertising.
  • Public Relations: Develop and maintain relationships with media, influencers, and industry partners. Coordinate press releases, media kits, and public statements.
  • Event Planning: Assist in organizing and executing company events, trade shows, and promotional activities to enhance brand visibility and engagement.
  • Market Research: Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive landscape to inform marketing strategies.
  • Performance Analysis: Monitor and analyze the performance of marketing campaigns, providing regular reports and insights to optimize future efforts.
  • Budget Management: Manage the marketing budget effectively, ensuring maximum ROI on all marketing activities.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other departments including sales, product development, and customer service to ensure cohesive and effective marketing efforts.
  • Lead Generation: Execute marketing strategies and manage lead generation initiatives.
  • Sustainability Content: Collaborate with the Sustainability Team to create content and materials supporting the company's Sustainability Program.
  • Package Design and Maintenance: Maintain all package design for the Industrial business


Scope and Dimensions:

  • Market for an industrial sales team with 70 million hundredweight and over $3.5 billion in revenue.
  • Manage a customer base that includes over 400 active customers and is continuously growing.
  • Oversee and collaborate with all external agency partners and Cooperative members.
  • Supervise all aspects of the industrial group’s marketing needs and efforts.


Problem Solving/Decision Making:

  • Manage multiple simultaneous activities efficiently.
  • Require strong communication and relational database skills.
  • Handle customer requests and manage contracts effectively.
  • Develop strategies to promote and ensure brand consistency and awareness.
  • Innovate and adapt strategies based on different regional needs.
  • Identify and scale best practices for branding and communications.


Working Relationships:

  • Report to the SVP of Industrial Sales.
  • Work closely with IT, quality assurance, customer service, distribution and production planning, and other company members.
  • Engage with external agency partners as needed.
  • Manage relationships with marketing, design, and media agencies.


Knowledge and Experience:

  • Detail-oriented and self-driven individual with sound business judgment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, relational databases, and all social media platforms.
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field with ideally 7+ years of experience.
  • Proficient in digital content creation and social media management.
  • Experienced in building brand awareness and managing global marketing strategies.
  • Strong understanding of marketing principles and best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Experience with graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus.
