Senior Data Architect

About The Role

We are looking for a Senior Data Architect for an exciting opportunity with one of our public sector in Alberta.This is a fully remote contract for an architect who is passionate about designing modern enterprise data solutions, cloud platforms, data governance, and large-scale digital transformation initiatives.

As a Data Architect, you will play a key role in replacing the legacy Public Trustee Information System with a modern Microsoft Dynamics 365 solution. You will lead the design and governance of enterprise data architecture, ensuring secure, scalable, and analytics-ready data solutions that support business operations, reporting, and future growth.

You will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, Microsoft Dynamics teams, vendors, security teams, and project leadership to define data strategies, architecture standards, migration approaches, and governance frameworks while ensuring alignment with Government of Alberta standards and best practices.

Location: Remote (Must work within Canada)

Work Model: 100% Remote

Key Responsibilities

• Design enterprise data architecture, including conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
• Lead architecture for Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power Platform, Azure, and integrated enterprise systems.
• Define enterprise data strategies, standards, principles, and governance frameworks.
• Design secure integrations between Dynamics 365, Azure services, and external applications.
• Lead data migration strategy, mapping, validation, transformation, and reconciliation activities.
• Design modern Azure Data Lake, Data Warehouse, and Lakehouse architectures.
• Establish data quality standards, validation rules, and governance processes.

• Ensure compliance with privacy, security, records management, and data retention policies.
• Enable enterprise reporting and analytics through Power BI and Microsoft Azure data services.
• Review vendor deliverables and provide technical leadership throughout Agile project delivery.
• Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable data solutions.
  
  

Must Haves

• 7+ years of experience as a Data Architect designing and implementing enterprise data solutions.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 data architecture and data management.
• Extensive experience developing Conceptual, Logical, and Physical Data Models.
• Proven experience leading data migration, mapping, transformation, and validation activities.
• Strong expertise in Power BI reporting and analytics architecture.
• Experience implementing enterprise data governance, data quality, and metadata management.
• Experience designing modern Azure data platforms, including Azure Data Lake, Synapse Analytics, Databricks, and related Microsoft technologies.
