AWS Cloud Engineer in MEXICO

Remote 1 year ago

We are looking for a AWS Cloud Engineer to work on remote from anywhere in Mexico for a multicultural project with stability and growth in the short, medium and long term.

  • This AWS Cloud Engineer role seeks a dedicated and skilled professional adept at developing, deploying, and managing secure and scalable AWS cloud solutions.
  • The ideal candidate is expected to work autonomously with collaboration amongst a small team, requiring the capacity to actively engage remotely, utilizing Microsoft Teams with video on for all interactions, and aligned with Chicago time-zone working hours.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop and implement scalable, secure cloud-based solutions using Python programming language and AWS cloud services such as Lambda, EC2, and S3.

2. Utilize the AWS SDK for Python (Boto3) for writing scripts and automating AWS services, aiming to enhance the efficiency and scalability of cloud operations.

3. Design and manage cloud infrastructure via Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using AWS CloudFormation, ensuring seamless deployment and optimal operations of cloud resources.

4. Implement continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to automate testing and facilitate the quick deployment of code changes.

5. Work closely with Product Owners to accurately size and estimate development work for cloud-based feature requests, translating these into actionable technical solutions.

6. Maintain thorough documentation for all developed solutions, code, and cloud infrastructure configurations to promote transparency, facilitate continuous learning, and foster a culture of knowledge sharing within the team.

7. Automate routine cloud management tasks through utility scripts, contributing to the operational efficiency of the cloud environment.

8. The candidate for the role must have the ability to interpret written and visual documentation and turn that into product work.

9. The candidate will have in-depth knowledge of terraform and the Hashicorp Configuration Language; they will understand how terraform uses modules and libraries, and how those would be migrated to CloudFormation.

10. The candidate must have the ability to analyze Python legacy code and determine how it can be optimized to take advantage of the latest capabilities of Python. These may include straight forward syntax changes and/or refactoring the code for maintainability.

11. The candidate will also be able to perform independent troubleshooting of Python lambda functions to determine why certain functions are not providing the expected results; this would require the candidate to have a deep understanding of boto3.

12. The candidate must have the ability to take a high-level design and convert that into an AWS Lambda written in Python. The candidate will understand how AWS utilizes tools such as CodeCommit, CodePipeline, CodeDeploy, etc to create a maintainable suite of tools.

13. The ability to document processes and diagrams of the work performed to the standard that Customer defines.

14. Daily check-ins beginning and end of day with scrum master / manager.

Qualifications:

1. Overall, 5 to 8 years of IT experience.

2. Minimum of 3 years hands-on experience in Python programming, including AWS SDK for Python (Boto3) and AWS CloudFormation for scripting, automation, and infrastructure management.

3. At least 2 years of experience with AWS IAM Role and Policy development and maintenance, alongside knowledge of security and compliance best practices in the AWS ecosystem.

4. Demonstrated experience in incorporating cost optimization strategies within AWS environments to achieve efficient and economic cloud solutions, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in this area.

5. AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Developer - Associate level, indicating a comprehensive understanding of AWS technologies, architectures, and best practices.

6. A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with core AWS cloud services and technologies demonstrating a strong engineering and scripting skill set.

7. Strong problem-solving skills with at least 2 years of experience in navigating complex technical challenges to deliver practical solutions.

8. Ability to perform effectively with light oversight and participate actively in remote collaboration using Teams, with the expectation of having the camera turned on for all meetings to ensure effective communication and teamwork. Candidates must be capable of operating within the Chicago time-zone working hours, ensuring alignment with team schedules and collaboration needs.
