We are seeking an experienced Senior IT Project Manager (PMP) to lead a high-profile Data Lakehouse (DLH) initiative supporting a California State agency. This role requires a strategic project leader with a strong background in managing large, complex IT projects, stakeholder engagement, and enterprise data management initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Lead the planning and execution of large-scale Data Lakehouse and enterprise data management projects.
- Develop and manage project plans, schedules, work breakdown structures (WBS), and critical path activities.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams including business, technical, data engineering, architecture, analytics, and executive stakeholders.
- Manage project scope, risks, issues, dependencies, and deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
- Facilitate project meetings, executive status updates, and governance reviews.
- Partner with Organizational Change Management (OCM) and Communications teams to manage stakeholder expectations.
- Support transition planning, knowledge transfer, and handoff to Maintenance & Operations (M&O) teams.
- Ensure compliance with State project governance and reporting requirements.
- Drive successful project delivery while maintaining quality, budget, and schedule objectives.

Required Qualifications
- Current PMP Certification (Project Management Professional) – Required.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of IT Project Management experience, including at least 4 years leading large, complex enterprise IT projects.
- 5+ years of experience supporting government agencies.
- 5+ years leading cross-functional teams, mentoring staff, and facilitating project meetings.
- Experience with risk management, business process analysis, and gap analysis.
- Experience managing project transitions and knowledge transfer to operational teams.
- Strong experience with Agile, SDLC, Microsoft Project, Jira, and project governance.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience delivering Data Lake, Data Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, Master Data Management (MDM), or enterprise data platform projects.
- Experience with Databricks, cloud-based analytics platforms, or modern data engineering initiatives.
- California State Government project experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to engage effectively with data architects, data engineers, analytics teams, business stakeholders, and executive leadership.
- Experience working on projects subject to State oversight, IV&V, and enterprise governance.
