The Role
- Lead and evolve the organisation’s AI and machine learning strategy, aligning it with product and commercial goals
- Take ownership of an existing AI function, improving current models, processes, and overall performance
- Act as a player-coach, contributing to architecture and technical direction while guiding the team
- Design and optimise NLP and document intelligence systems for extracting, structuring, and interpreting complex data
- Drive best practices across the full machine learning lifecycle, from data ingestion through to deployment and monitoring
- Collaborate with senior leadership to define the AI roadmap and identify new product opportunities
- Build and scale a high-performing team across machine learning, MLOps, and data engineering
- Introduce robust evaluation frameworks to prioritise accuracy, determinism, and production reliability
- Contribute to broader AI innovation, including the use of LLMs, agent-based systems, and proprietary model development

Your Skills and Experience
- Strong commercial experience building and deploying machine learning models within SaaS or product-led environments
- Deep expertise in NLP, NLU, and document intelligence, particularly with unstructured or semi-structured data such as PDFs
- Experience developing systems for document parsing, classification, OCR, entity extraction, and structured output generation
- Proficiency in Python and modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch, Hugging Face, or similar tools
- Experience deploying production ML systems using cloud-native infrastructure and containerisation technologies
- A track record of owning the full ML lifecycle, including experimentation, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring
- Demonstrated leadership capability, with experience mentoring teams and driving technical standards
- Ability to balance cutting-edge AI approaches with practical, scalable engineering solutions
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
