About the Role
The Integrated Security Systems Architect is a senior-level position focused on the comprehensive design, integration, and accreditation of security systems across classified and mission-critical environments. This position is responsible for ensuring that facilities meet stringent security requirements, leveraging deep technical expertise and a thorough understanding of regulatory frameworks. The role has a significant impact on the protection of critical assets, compliance with national and international standards, and the assurance of mission-critical operations in sensitive environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end design and technical documentation of security systems for high-security facilities, utilizing advanced tools such as AutoCAD, Visio, and Revit to produce detailed schematics and layout drawings.
- Oversee the integration of complex security subsystems, including electronic access control, video surveillance (CCTV), intrusion detection, perimeter protection, and security management platforms.
- Ensure design and implementation decisions are grounded in accreditation requirements and applicable regulatory standards, including NISPOM, NIST SP 800 series, ICD 705, and ISO/IEC 27001/27002.
- Conduct comprehensive risk, threat, and vulnerability assessments, providing actionable recommendations to mitigate identified risks and enhance facility security posture.
- Support and guide the security accreditation process, preparing documentation, participating in inspections, and addressing findings to achieve and maintain compliance for SCIF, SAPF, and other classified spaces.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, engineers, IT, and security stakeholders, throughout all project phases from concept through commissioning and handover.
- Develop and review security policies, procedures, and technical standards to ensure ongoing compliance and operational effectiveness.
- Provide expert consultation and technical leadership during construction, installation, and commissioning of security systems, ensuring adherence to design intent and regulatory standards.
- Stay current with emerging security technologies, industry best practices, and evolving regulatory requirements, proactively recommending enhancements to existing systems and processes.

Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in the design, implementation, and integration of security systems, with a strong track record in classified, government, or high-security environments.
- Demonstrated expertise in the design and accreditation of Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIF), Special Access Program Facilities (SAPF), or similar secure spaces, including familiarity with ICD 705 and related standards.
- In-depth knowledge of security frameworks and standards, including NISPOM, NIST SP 800 series, ISO/IEC 27001/27002, ASIS Physical Asset Protection (PAP), and other relevant guidelines.
- Advanced proficiency in technical drawing and design software such as AutoCAD, Visio, and Revit, with the ability to produce and interpret complex security system schematics and construction documents.
- Strong understanding of electronic security technologies, including access control systems (e.g., Lenel, AMAG), CCTV/video management systems (e.g., Genetec, Milestone), intrusion detection, and integration with building management systems.
- Proven experience conducting risk assessments, vulnerability analyses, and developing mitigation strategies for high-value assets and critical infrastructure.
- Comprehensive knowledge of security accreditation processes, documentation requirements, and audit preparation for regulated environments.
- Exceptional attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a commitment to accuracy and mission assurance in all deliverables.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and presentation skills, with the ability to interact effectively with cleared personnel, senior leadership, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, prioritize tasks, and deliver results under tight deadlines in sensitive settings.

Qualifications
