Postgres Database Administrator (DBA)

We are seeking a Postgres Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team. This role will support our on-premise PostgreSQL environment and assist in our migration to a hybrid cloud architecture.

Contract-to-Hire: Remote initially with relocation required upon permanent hire.

Responsibilities:

• Administer, maintain, and optimize on-prem PostgreSQL databases.
• Perform database migrations, backups, recovery, and performance tuning.
• Create and modify database objects using DDL (e.g., tables, indexes, stored procedures).
• Work with development teams to understand downstream impacts of schema changes.

• Collaborate on the migration of databases to the cloud (target completion: August).
• Support regular deployment schedules.
• Ensure database availability, reliability, and security in a Linux environment.
• Work within a collaborative team that values shared responsibility and support.

Must-haves:

• 5+ Years of professional experience administering PostgreSQL in on-prem environments (not solely cloud-hosted).

• Professional exposure to multi-tenant environments utilizing a variety of data sources.
• Adept ability with SQL statements, table joins, views, stored procedures, etc.
• Professional experience with either SQL Server or Oracle databases.
• Strong knowledge of DDL and the ability to assess the impact of changes across applications.
• Basic Linux administration and shell scripting in a command line environment.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Exposure to Puppet and YAML configuration files.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Understanding of database automation and CI/CD practices.
