Role Description
you will support the design, implementation, and testing of autonomous behaviours and control algorithms for robotic or unmanned systems. This remote role involves contributing to simulation environments, integrating perception and planning modules, and writing clean, well-documented code for autonomy software components. Day-to-day tasks may include building and tuning navigation and path-planning algorithms, analysing system performance, debugging issues in simulation or test logs, and collaborating with mentors on new autonomy features. The intern will participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and documentation to ensure reliable and maintainable solutions. This position is a volunteer, remote opportunity with flexible hours, ideal for individuals seeking hands-on experience in autonomy and robotics.
Qualifications
- sound knowledge of robotics, control systems, or autonomous systems, gained through coursework, projects, or personal initiatives.
- Experience with C++, ROS, KiCad, Fusion360, Python & Git
- Exposure to robotics or simulation frameworks (e.g., ROS, Gazebo, Webots, or equivalent) and basic knowledge of motion studies, engineering constraints and CAD
- Ability to work independently in a hybrid setting, manage time effectively, and communicate clearly in written and spoken English with a distributed team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a willingness to learn new tools and approaches quickly in a technically demanding domain.
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Interest in defence, security, or high-reliability systems and comfort working on applications intended for challenging and potentially hostile environments, in line with applicable laws and regulations.
